    Oliver - Jacu Coffee Roasters

Belco Euro Tour made a stop in Oslo, in the company of Oliver from Jacu Coffee Roasters. For the occasion, Oliver had travelled all the way from Ålesund, and it was in a coffee shop in the Norwegian capital, Pust, that we met to discuss the environmental and social issues that are shaking up the entire specialty coffee industry, from producer to consumer. Nous sommes allés à la rencontre de leur équipe, avant de m’entretenir plus longuement avec Maxence, fondateur de la torréfaction spécialisée dans le B2B. Le but ?

In Oslo we met Bjørnar Hafslund, the head of Fuglen. After a day's drive from Gothenburg, he was waiting for us to share a dinner. We then went to the brand's roasting and coffee shop to get his opinion on specialty coffee and its definition. Together we discussed about specialty coffee and how it should evolve today, as consumers are increasingly aware of the social and environmental issues affecting the producers of their favourite products, starting with coffee. Johan - Gringo Nordic Coffee Roasters

Johan Ekfeldt is the founder of Gringo Nordic Coffee Roasters. We met him the day after our interview with Christian from Morgon Coffee Roasters, during one of the last stages of the Belco Euro Tour. Johan founded Gringo Nordic with his wife, Pernilla, and business partner Magnus in 2018 in Gothenburg. But his history with specialty coffee began much earlier! In 2004, he founded Johan & Nyström, Sweden's first specialty coffee roastery. After leaving the company, Johan decided to set up his own farm in Morales, Colombia: Finca La Tierra. With such a wide range of experience, from production to roasting, Johan was a natural choice to discuss the future of specialty coffee! Hébergé par Ausha. Christian - Morgon Coffee Roasters

We spent part of the afternoon at Morgon Coffee Roasters, while founder Christian and his team were busy roasting and bagging their new coffees. Sharing a hot cup together we then discussed about sustainability, the future of specialty coffee and what really matters to Morgon. And, for Christian, it's simple: specialty coffee, beyond the score, is above all a human story. Hébergé par Ausha. Visitez ausha.co/fr/politique-de-confidentialite pour plus d'informations.

    Rune - Kaffevaerk

We went to visit Rune, the founder of Kaffevaerk, in Copenhagen. He started roasting in 2006, experimenting with a small roaster, but you have to go back long time before Kaffevaerk was founded to find out where his passion for coffee comes from. In the 1990s, he worked at Copenhagen airport, alongside his studies. In the airport coffee shop, he discovered what could be considered the first speciality coffees, the Blue Mountain from Jamaica or the Kona from Hawaii. Today, Rune only selects certified organic coffees for Kaffevaerk. But his opinion on speciality coffee goes far beyond the question of labels. Hébergé par Ausha. Blazej, head roaster and sourcing manager was waiting for us together with Rasmus, sales manager. Since 2016, the Danish roaster's ambition has been clear: to give its customers the best possible coffee experience. While the direction taken to achieve this goal was initially exclusively that of quality, they now will to bring transparency about sustainability at the farm level and the future of the producers. With so many years of experience, it was interesting to hear his vision for specialty coffee and its future. Today, the company is B-Corp certified, but is that enough to convey the message Adam Craig wants to send to consumers and the coffee industry as a whole? Hébergé par Ausha.
