Description
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police want a 9 p.m. curfew for everyone under 18, and this week they released the numbers behind it: 431 juvenile victims of violent crime overnight in the past year, 68% aggravated assault with a gun, 91% Black, Hispanic or Latino. Here's the part nobody's saying β three in ten of those victims were 16 or 17, exactly the age group with no curfew today and the single biggest change in the proposal. Two honest readings of the same number, and the one that decides it is enforcement, which council still hasn't been told. Plus: Charlotte's data center fight goes statewide with three more hearings Monday, what North Carolina spent on private school vouchers with school ten days out, and where to be this weekend β including the one thing to check before you walk out the door.
