Description
Charlotte City Council voted 9β2 Monday night for a 10 p.m. curfew for everyone under 18, starting November 1 as a pilot that runs through next August. For 16- and 17-year-olds, it's the first general curfew they've had. Police Chief Estella Patterson told council CMPD will do quarterly reviews tracking youth victimization, crimes by youth, teen takeovers and officer hours, with help from Johnson C. Smith University. But none of that is written into the ordinance, and most of the pilot runs through winter. Plus: WFAE's Steve Harrison asks whether North Carolina's whistleblower law protected Crystal Hill as the school board starts its superintendent search, and Huntington's big green sign heads for the top of the One South tower uptown. And tonight, two Charlotte comedians roast Exit 3A and grocery store parking lots.
