Description
Charlotte's 150-day data center moratorium is 70 days old with 80 to go. What the city has produced in public: an FAQ page, a focus group, two modest recommendations β additional site assessments and stronger community engagement β and a task force that met twice in July before council was told it existed. No draft ordinance. No hearing scheduled. Meanwhile three more North Carolina governments vote tonight on pauses of their own, and Yadkin County is weighing one more than twice as long as Charlotte's entire moratorium. The fair counterpoint is real: those counties are stopping a clock, Charlotte is writing permanent zoning rules for the biggest market in the state. Plus: CMS cuts magnet themes from 16 to six with school eight days out, a 22-year-old charged with murder in the street-race death of a 17-year-old motorcyclist, and a Charlotte restaurant institution has twelve days left.
