Description
A gallon of regular in Charlotte hit $3.95 this morning — up 12 cents in a week, up more than a quarter in a month, and a full $1.06 higher than a year ago. We're still 33 cents under the national average, and September is normally when prices fall. They aren't, and GasBuddy points to US–Iran friction, the Red Sea and a shut Saudi pipeline. But the number worth circling is diesel: up more than 31 cents in a single week to a record $5.98 nationally, two and a half times what gasoline moved. Diesel is what moves freight, and it reaches your grocery bill late. Plus: the Panthers lose 59-37 in the highest-scoring season opener in NFL history, council votes tonight on the data center moratorium, and the Park Road deli with a two-hour line.
