Description
American Airlines is adding Barcelona service from Charlotte β and its seats at Charlotte Douglas are down 12%, flights down 7%, with reductions in 16 of the last 17 months through May. Two reasons: the airline is pouring aircraft into Chicago to fight United, and after CLT hit record traffic two years ago with packed concourses and summer delays, American pulled back to a size it could run on time. Charlotte is still American's second-largest hub. Both things are true. Plus: CMS students improve in all 18 state testing categories for a second straight year, with the graduation rate hitting 87.9%. And why the 630,000 North Carolinians facing food insecurity aren't the number you think they are.
