Speaker #0Hi everyone, how are you? Okay. Today is a special episode. I'm loving it, actually. I'm really loving it. I don't know where I'm going and this is the whole point of this podcast. Wait, the heater is too hot, so I'm gonna lower it. So yes, hi everyone. I have no idea where I'm going and I love it. I really love it. So... Usually I do this podcast in French because I'm French and so I love speaking English as I love speaking Spanish and French. It's been a while since I haven't spoken in English because I've spent five years in London and also a few years back in the days I went abroad as well where I had to speak English in the US, etc. But it's been five years and a half so that I've not lived in London. So I've lived in London for five, I mean, in the UK for five years. It was five years and a half ago. So yes, it was a long time ago. Went back in 2019. We are in 2025. So it was six years ago, actually. So my English is rusted. And it's not perfect at all. And my accent is just so French. And also, I don't know, maybe it's annoying for anyone who knows me and is French. And I'm quite sure none of my English spoken friends will listen to it because not a lot of my French friends listen to my podcast. But I'm saying that I don't know why I'm doing this. It's just that I love speaking English. I miss it because I'm not in a job that requires it. And I'm not in a city that requires it because I'm in France. Okay. A few months ago, a few weeks ago, so I've always liked two things. I mean, I love a lot of things, but I like two things. First thing I like is humor. So anything related to comedy, movie, theater, improvisation, stand-up, songs. I don't know, writing, poetry, rap, I don't know anything related to something creative. And I like it when it's funny, stand up, of course, on the top of it, there's stand up, the stand up field. And I like this, I like humor, and I like also, so languages. And I don't remember where I'm going. Yes, yes. So I know where I'm going. so this is the two things that I like so basically like comedy and the different languages especially French, English and Spanish and I've always like loved or imagined like reunite wow reunite all of the things and a few weeks ago I was like okay those days I'm doing my stand up I'm trying stand up comedy In a few places in France, in French, obviously. But like a few weeks ago, I was like, oh, I know in Paris, like maybe in other cities as well. But I know in Paris you have like a stand up comedy or stand up open mics in English. Dedicated to English speaking, wow, English spoken people. English speaking people. American, I don't know. UK. I don't know, English people, anyone who speaks English. And a few weeks ago, I've actually written to those comedy clubs and saying, hey, I'd like to try my stand-up activity in English. So they're quite open. I can fill out forms that say my availabilities, etc. But first, I need to train. So basically... Those days I'm doing my stand-up is basically based on drawings. So I have an Instagram where I draw. It's called Dessiner C'est Carole. That's why you're on this podcast. Every day I'm posting a different drawing, a new drawing. It's like kind of pressed drawing. It's like drawing about stuff that makes me laugh, that makes me go wild, or that makes me, I don't know, things that I love or hate. Not hate, but things that trigger me or that makes, I don't know. Yeah, sorry. You are my... So my stand-up is that. And I start from the drawings on stage because I have a tablet, an iPad. I'm picking or some people in the audience pick for me one drawing because I have many. And then we start from this drawing. And then I can spend like two minutes, 30 seconds, one minute on one drawing and I'm trying to make people laugh. Yesterday night, people have laughed. Two days ago, people have not laughed. So really, it's a work in progress, but I'm loving it. And as I love speaking English as well, I was like, oh, what about doing it in English? Basically, I've done theater in English, improvisation, improvisation, not a lot, but a bit, I guess, in English. I've taken like drama school a little bit. in London. So it's something that I've always loved. And I love watching shows in English, etc. Okay. So welcome on this podcast. Now I've explained why I'm doing this. If you're still here, now I can like endorse. No, now I can like, okay, put my comedy character. on and trying to make you laugh in English. I don't know where I'm going. Oh, it's not fun anymore. Just me speaking English like I'm on a Netflix show, but let's try it. Okay, I'm closing my eyes. Thank you for like your consideration and thank you for still being here. And yeah, let's try it together. And I will tell you when I do this on like a stage. I guess in Paris, in English. I will tell you. I will film it and I will show it to you. But before, let's try to be fun on this podcast, before trying to be fun in front of real people. Wow, it's a bit boring, isn't it? What I'm saying? I don't know. Okay, let's try it. Okay, I'm closing my eyes and I'm picking a drawing. I'm less fun in English, I feel. Okay. Wow, my drawings are so French. So I'm in front of a drawing. It's called Le téléphone avec les pots de yaourt. So basically, it's like the phone with the yogurt. Yogurt pot? I don't know. Okay, basically, we have two people speaking to each other with like yogurts put on their ears. Like two kids, basically, because like, you know, when you're a kid, you're like taking two yogurts, yogurts, and then you put like a string, a string, yeah, a string between them. And then you're trying to speak to each other, you know, you're in one room and the other one is in the other room and you're trying, hey, can you can you hear me? Yeah, I can hear you. Whoa, that's fun. OK, that makes me think to like another anecdote. I don't know the word for anecdote, like a fun story. When I was a kid, my big brother and I, we didn't have cell phones at the time. We didn't even have internet because I'm old. We didn't have internet at all. So, okay, we couldn't reach each other except with talkie-walkie. But one Christmas, or I don't know when, my parents offered to us two phones just linked with the string. And we could actually call each other in each other's room, you know. But of course, like this has last like two nights because we were like, how do you say, unsufferable? Like we were insupportable because we kept on calling each other. Like my brother used to call me like every single, I don't know, minute. So I couldn't like sleep or anything. So the phone was confiscated. That's gonna be fun. Okay, maybe my show is for French and English people because, or like, I mean, people that understand both languages because... Some funny words are fun because they are French. Aren't they? Aren't they? Oh my god. Okay, let's try another drawing. I'm not fun in English, but let's try. Thank you for still being here. Even me want to leave the podcast, you know, because I feel we're not going anywhere. Yeah, I realize I like speaking, but then it's less fun. Or maybe I need a beer. Anyway. Okay, okay, I know this drawing, I've already performed it on stage, but I'm gonna tell it to you. So the drawing says, let's go to the beach, itch. And it's basically like the start of the song of Nicki Minaj's song, I think it's Starships. Let's go to the beach, itch. No, let's go to the beach, itch. As a French, I thought it was let's go to the beach, itch. But no, it's Let's Go to the Beach, Itch. And yeah, it's the song that goes, Starship, I'm meant to fly. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Okay, and I love the beginning of the start of the song. And I feel like in everyday life, we should have like, yeah, like some soundtrack of our lives. That makes us like, that gives us courage. For example, if I'm in an office job and I need to go in a big, like important meeting that stresses me out, I would love to have a little like soundtrack of my life that makes, let's go to the beach, itch, and then I go to the meeting. You know, then I open the door and then I'm, you know, I'm confident because I have, let's go to the beach, itch, but we can't have Nicki Minaj every day with us. You know, Nicki Minaj has a full... agenda. She's not like she has a very, I guess she has a life, Nicki Minaj, and she can't be available for anyone who has a meeting, you know. Imagine a world where we, Nicki Minaj, would be available to do like tiny concerts when we enter meetings to make them, to make us confident. Like imagine at 8 a.m. Nicki Minaj, Nicki Minaj starts her day and she has to go to Berlin where she will help. Gustave, who needs to enter his meeting. And so at 8 a.m. she's in Berlin and she needs to sing, let's go to the beach, each. And then at 8, like 15, she needs to go to Paris, where she needs to follow Candice at her work. Candice needs some confidence, confidence? Some trust, I don't know. She needs like courage to enter a meeting. And then Nicki Minaj will be here to sing, let's go to the beach, each then me. I mean, let's say, for example, Bordeaux. And I don't know, I need to go to this very important meeting of mine, of my family, for example. And she will be there. Let's go to the beach. And she will, you know, you have understand. OK, I don't know if it was funny, but thank you for still being here. OK, I close my eyes and I'm trying a new drawing. Okay, I have a new drawing. It's a lot of words, but I'm going to say it in French, then in English. So it says, avoir des enfants. The first bubble, the first, yeah, sentence says, il commence à bien dessiner. Second sentence says, enfin, il commence à dessiner sur une feuille. Okay, so basically, the drawing says, having kids. The first bubble says, oh, they're starting to draw very well. And the second bubble says, well. they're starting to draw on a paper. Well, they're starting to draw on a piece of paper. Piece of paper? Yeah. Yeah, it's, I don't know, someone with kids told me that one day, and that makes me laugh, you know? Oh, my kids start to draw very well. Well, they just take the pen in their hand, and that's already a good job. You know, that's fun. Having kids is fun, I guess. Yes. Okay, on the social media and everywhere, people are upset. You feel that they're upset with having kids. But really, it's fun. I guess it's a lot of fun. Because they draw like shit on a piece of paper. And it's fun. I feel it's fun. But I guess it's a lot of organization as well. Okay, another drawing. Let's go. Okay, it says I'm gonna say it in French, but same I guess on stage I should like I should say them directly in English But if people see me in France, come on, they like speaking, they like hearing French. So, it says dans le TGV and it says... Bonjour, je suis Michel, votre barista. Je vous propose du snacking sucré-salé. Il n'y a actuellement aucune attente au bar. Yeah, okay. It is the annonce, the announcement of the... Chef de cabine of the like TGV staff, TGV being like railway company, TGV staff. When you sit down in a TGV, you have like five to ten minutes of announcements because it's not like, I don't know, in other countries, for example, Japan, for example, Sweden. They do have like screen when they say stuff like next stop is blah, blah, blah. Don't forget your luggage. Please put a tag on your luggage. You can like enjoy our free Wi-Fi, whatever the fuck. But no, in France, it's five to ten minutes off. Mesdames et messieurs, bonjour, bienvenue dans le TGV. En direction de Rennes. Direction de Rennes. Prochain arrêt. Vannes. Vannes. Vannes. Quinze minutes d'arrêt. On enchaînera avec... I mean, we don't have time for you guys. Like, the price of the ticket, it's, I don't know, like, it's really too expensive. So when I fucking sit down on this, like, TGV seat, I just want silence. And I just want to enjoy my ride, you know. I don't want, like, Robert telling me his life. Well, when it can be on a screen, I guess it's part of the charm of the TGV. But, you know, the other day, like, some TGV guys are actually very, very fun. Like, the other day, that was really fun. The guy was saying, like... The guy was saying, OK, my colleagues will go through the cars, you know, the cars of the TGV. I don't know, the wagon. My colleagues will go and check your tickets, check your tickets, guys, la la la. And he said, my colleagues are the most beautiful you'll ever see. Like the staff is the most beautiful you'll ever see. And then he says, like he leave a little blank. and then he sees, well, Unfortunately, the most beautiful are not working today, but I don't know. I thought that was fun. Like he was really like, I don't know, doing it well. I don't have like English good expressions anymore. But OK, that was the drawing. Let's try another one. You still with me, guys? Thank you very much. Like, thank you a lot. Can't wait to do the same in Spanish. in Spanish is going to last like an hour and a half. And I'm going to say three words because I do not have my Spanish anymore. Oh my God. Oh, I have a Spanish friend. We could do like a special episode in Spanish where it will only be listened by her mother. But that could be fun. I could try. Could try that with her. Oh, I would love it. And then I will do like English one. With who? Who wants to do it with me in English? Please raise your hands. Or DM me. Okay, next drawing. Oh, that's cute. There was a time I had a lot of likes. I do not have likes anymore. I don't know. Because two years ago, I guess I had more friends. No, I don't know. Two years ago, I guess there was less. things on internet. Now we are just, we are just saturé, saturé, on est saturé. Okay. It says, prêt à dormir, tu penses à quoi? À rien. Et toi? À tout. It goes. Ready to sleep. And then one person says, what are you thinking about? Nothing. You? Everything. But it really happened like that. So I was with my boyfriend and my ex-boyfriend and we were sleeping. No, we were about to sleep. And yeah, I was like, what are you thinking about? Because I guess he was like a bit like he had like a look that makes me feel he was sleeping. And he said nothing. And then he said, what about you? And I said, everything. I don't know. Is it the difference between men and women? No, no. But at this time, I felt it was. Like, for me, I couldn't sleep because I was thinking too much. He couldn't sleep because he was thinking too nothing. No, I don't believe him. Of course, he was thinking too a lot of things. Okay, a new drawing. Okay, a new drawing. I'll be honest. I've passed a few drawings because a lot of my drawings are about French expressions. So, but that could be fun to explain them. But at the same time, it's a bit like it's even, it's funnier in French because we, when I say it, we all realize that French expressions, French sayings, I don't know, it doesn't make sense when you're trying to decompose it or when you try to, you know, to like single everything out. I don't know. But in English, it would be less fun. I feel it, but I need to try. Okay, this drawing is... Okay, I'm going to sing it because it's lyrics, but in French. It's called... The drawing says... Seul avec du monde autour. Seul avec du monde autour. Okay, it's not a good rhythm. And we can see someone, I guess it's me, on a bench. And then... But in the middle of the planet, basically. And a few... like people around and trees, but the person is alone. So basically the lyric says in English, I guess alone, but with people around. I feel in English you have an expression to say there's a difference between being alone and being lonely. In French, we don't have in the same situation, in both cases. In both, I'm starting, okay, now I'm, okay, after like, after like 10 minutes, I guess, my English is like leaving the place. Yeah, yeah. To a certain point, I become like tired of speaking English, I guess. So it says seul avec du monde autour, which means alone, but with people around. And in France, we have seul, saying seul in both cases, either it's good or bad, you are seul. In English, what is good is that you have she's alone, but she's lonely. It's really different. Lonely is like sad or she miss people, etc. But alone, it's just a fact like she's by herself. And so I love these lyrics. It's a song from French rapper Aurel San. And I love these lyrics because they really like talk to me or I relate because I love being. I guess, alone, but with people around. Because when I'm alone, I can record weird podcasts by myself. But I love having people around me, of course. I love having family, friends and people who love me. But I really like my own, not company, not really, but my own space to deal with my creativity and to do stuff. to create, to imagine stuff, to produce, etc. And so I totally relate with what Aurel San is saying. Like, you can feel he loves being alone, but with people around. Yeah, that's a very good feeling, I feel. And that's when you can be the most creative, basically. Like, even stand-up, it's being alone, but with people around. you're not with the people you're not with the audience you're basically alone on stage and you you are talking to people you are doing your show but with people around but basically no one is on stage with you so everyone is letting you do what you want to do do you and no one is disturbing you you're doing your thing but you have people watching basically and uh yeah because it's It's hard doing things with other people. I love... as well but it's hard because you need to adapt you need to enjoy people's presence you need to be to agree with what they suggest to you a good example of being creative with other people is improvisation like in improvisation you need to adapt yourself to other people on stage you need to say yes It's the yes of improvisation, of the improvisation. But you need to say yes to other people's suggestions. You need to say yes always. You need to follow like what people are suggesting to you, a story, a character, like a mood or a period of time. You need to say yes to everything on stage when you're doing improvisation with like other people. And that's what I felt very hard when I was doing it. but also That's what I felt very... incredibly enriching, incredibly rich and fun and also inspiring. Because by yourself, you're always doing stuff that looks like you, that you have your three characters and always doing the same. With people around you, with you, you can grow. So yeah, I do like improvisation, but I think I'm better by myself doing stuff. But still, by this podcast, I want to say that I'm open to anyone who wants to like play with me. It's weird saying this like that. But like, I don't know if I inspire people to like do funny stuff with me that we could do together because we have the same like, how do you say, mood or humor, comedy, then I really think it would be super fun. to do it and not only being sad with people around but be like doing things with other people that's really like that's also where you can go further because alone you go fast but together you go further you go far wow yeah let's so the conclusion of this podcast so first of all thank you for bearing with me no but thank you for like listening it to the end because I'm not even sure if I will do it for myself. And also, that was a great exercise. My conclusion is that I have a hard time being funny. But I can really speak about my drawings without any problem. So that's good news. Second thing, I think I need to select a bit more. And yeah, that wasn't really fun. So yeah, I will maybe do it again or maybe not. Or maybe on... Of course, the other thing that on stage, I guess I can play with the fact that I'm not English. And also on stage, I have like my physicality, everything that makes it fun, which, yeah. Here I have less word and podcast is only words. So, yeah, it's a bit hard to be fun. But I'm not saying I'm not doing it again. But thank you for listening. And yeah, so my outro. Gen, generic. My outro will not be true on this one because it says this podcasting is not in English. It was in English today. Thank you for listening. Bye-bye, everyone. Bye-bye. Salut et merci d'avoir écouté Dessinez-C'est Carole, le podcast. Ciao, ciao. Hi, thank you for listening Dessinez-C'est Carole, the podcast, even though it's not in English. Good luck with that.
