--

A self-taught artist, Morgan Mahape started drawing very early in life. At the age of twenty, yearning for more freedom of expression, he abandoned his studies and then left his job in interior design company.

Four years later, he discovered the glass beads that are abundantly used in the traditional costumes of certain South African peoples. This material acted as a trigger.

In his eyes, the bead, like the pixel of an image, symbolizes the individual who only exists when connected to others. Similarly, human society is made up of individuals who only make sens once they are linked together.

--

You are listening to an episode of a long series of interviews conducted with the artists, designers, collectors who make the International Festival of Extra Ordinary Textiles, during this edition "love etc."

Co-organized by the association HS_Projets, the City of Clermont-Ferrand and the Bargoin Museum Clermont- Auvergne-Métropole, the FITE, an initiative of the association HS_Projets, is nomadic and invites the 5 continents. In odd years, the event goes abroad, in 2021 to Senegal. On even years, it makes Clermont-Ferrand vibrate to the rhythm of the world.

Clermont-Ferrand, candidate for the title of European Capital of Culture for 2028, has chosen the FITE, to carry this economic, social, educational and civic ambition. It is committed to helping Clermont-Ferrand identify and promote its identity

and its specificities as well as to renew its image at the regional, national and European levels.
