Description

I’m recording this bonus episode on location in Canary Wharf, one of London’s biggest business districts. I’m surrounded by glass towers that house the likes of Chase, JP Morgan, and Revolut—a far cry from the woods where I usually do my best thinking, coaching, and wandering.

For years, the woods have been my sanctuary. They’ve been my escape from a business world where I once felt I had to put on a mask, hide parts of myself, and succeed on someone else’s terms. But here’s the truth: while I’ve loved that season of retreat and reconnection with nature, staying in the woods has also meant expecting people to come and find me there.

The reality is, the people who most urgently need my support—the ones suffocating in corporate roles that look good on paper but feel wrong in their bones—are right here, inside these buildings. They don’t have time to wander out into the sunshine, let alone the forest. If I want to be a lifeline for them, I need to step out of my own comfort zone and meet them where they are.

That’s why I’m relaunching this podcast as From Corporate to Calling. I’ll still bring the same honesty and exploration, but with a sharper focus on helping you quit corporate and discover meaningful, regenerative work.

If you’ve been with me since the beginning, thank you for walking this path with me—and if you’re new, welcome. You’re in the right place if you’re ready to leave behind burnout and misalignment, and redirect your skills into work that brings life back to you and to the world around you.

The first episode of the relaunch is already waiting for you—let’s begin this new chapter together.

Today I'm recording a special bonus episode of the podcast and I'm doing it on location. I've come to Canary Wharf which is one of the business districts of London. I'm sat in the main plaza and all around me are tall glass. office buildings that belong to the likes of Chase Bank and JP Morgan and Revolut. And you might be thinking this is a bit of an unconventional setting for me because if you know me you'll know that my preference is to spend as much time as possible wandering around in the woods, being in nature and I will do as much of my work there as I possibly can, coaching with people there, taking calls with people there. I am someone who has very much fallen back in love with nature and my community and I find so much solace in that place but it is to a degree a comfort zone. It is somewhere that I have escaped to and I say escape because I spent 15 years as an entrepreneur. I was never directly in corporate, I've never worked inside one of these buildings but I've set foot in many of them. I've spent a lot of time in boardrooms, I've spent a lot of time in corporate settings, feeling like I had to put on a uniform or a mask, putting my humanity in a box to a certain degree because I needed or I felt that I needed to be a certain way in order to succeed in that world of business and I needed to step out of that, I needed to detox and I have so much enjoyed my period of Wandering and exploring in the woods. But here's the issue. For as long as the woods remain my happy place, I am expecting people to come and find me there. And some incredible people have done exactly that. People that have also stepped out of the corporate world of work and have come to look for me in the metaphorical woods. And we have worked together to craft meaningful, regenerative work. that I want to do that for so long. many more people. And the people who need me most, the people who most urgently need to quit and reinvent their work lives are right here. They are in these glass buildings right now. They don't even have the time to come and sit out in the sunshine where I am, let alone go exploring and come and find me where I am. So I have a journey to go on. I need to get out of my comfort zone and I need to be in these liminal spaces. I need to get uncomfortable again. I need to be where the people who need me most are. My goal is to be a lifeline for those people who are frankly slowly suffocating inside of their work lives, who know that there is something better waiting for them, who desperately want work that aligns with their values and the kind of future that they want to see. That is my calling. And that is why I am relaunching the podcast as From Corporate to Calling. I will still be showing up in exactly the way I always have been, with vulnerability and in the spirit of exploration, but I will be speaking more directly to the people who need me most, the people who are desperately seeking a way out of corporate and into their calling. If you are a loyal listener and you've been here from the beginning a year ago, I want to thank you. for supporting me in this journey and if you want to give something back to me I would be so grateful if you could share this podcast with someone who needs that lifeline and if you are new here welcome what a time to join if you are someone who has a career that looks great on paper but feels wrong in your bones you are absolutely in the right place follow this podcast I'll be here every week helping you find a way out of corporate and into meaningful regenerative work. I'm so excited for this next chapter. Thank you for joining me. And the first episode of the relaunch podcast is available now. So go and have a listen to that. If this episode of from corporate to calling was helpful or inspiring, follow the show so you don't miss an episode. And if you know someone who's questioning their career, send them this podcast. Lifelines are meant to be shared. Remember, you don't have to tolerate burnout or misalignment. You can redirect your skills into meaningful work that brings back life to you and to the world around you.
