It's official! We have a new Formula 1 World Drivers' Champion, and his name is Kimi Antonelli. The Mexico Grand Prix saw the Mercedes youngster secure the championship after crossing the line in P3, making history as the youngest World Drivers' Champion.
Antonelli celebrated alongside two familiar faces on the podium: four-time world champion Max Verstappen, who took the race victory, and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who finished P2.
But while one driver was celebrating history, there was plenty of drama unfolding both on and off the track. From Ferrari's growing problems to a shock driver change at Haas, we've got a LOT to unpack.
This week, we're discussing:
- Fernando Alonso's rather catty comments to the drivers on the grid.
- Speculation about what really happened between Esteban Ocon and Haas, why he was benched before the end of the season, and replacement Ryō Hirakawa's impressive debut.
- Charles Leclerc's aggressive opening-lap move on Lewis Hamilton and the ongoing problems Hamilton is facing at Ferrari.
- Valtteri Bottas' horrific car malfunction, which sent him into the barriers and brought out a red flag.
- Heartbreak for Alpine as both drivers lose their points following post-race penalties.
- George Russell's emotional reaction to Kimi Antonelli becoming champion, and the bad luck that has followed him throughout the season.
- Discussions around if Mercedes can carry this momentum into 2027, or if another team will emerge with the fastest car?
We'll be back next week for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss it!
