  Welcome to the first mini-sode of season six. I'm Anna Murby, and this is Honest Christian Conversations, the mini-sode edition. If this is your first time hearing a mini-sode, you are in for a treat. And if you've been here before, thank you for coming back for them. Let's get into it. When you hear the word obedient, Do you cringe? I know I used to, but as I've been going through this journey with God, I'm realizing it's not actually a dirty word. It's been made to seem like it is. And as I mentioned in my episode with Scott Mocha, we talked about the importance of obedience, what it's really there for, and how freeing it is to be obedient to Christ, which seems like a oxymoron, but it's true. I highly encourage you to check out the episode I did with Scott Mocha called How to Respond When God Calls You to Love the People Others Avoid. It was a very impactful episode. It started off season six and led us into this space where we realize the importance of what actually sharing the gospel really means. It's not pen and paper, Bible, highlighter, you and somebody else sitting down and you share the gospel with them. Maybe you get that opportunity, but that's not what sharing the gospel means. It means being the hands and feet of Jesus, doing the things that he did. He walked among the sinners and the sick. He didn't preach. to them. He preached through the way that he treated them, through unconditional love and compassion and loving guidance. These are the things that we need to look at, and these are the ways that we need to approach people and the situations where we feel that God is drawing us to talk to somebody, maybe in a place where you aren't comfortable with doing that. Maybe it's a a comfort zone. switch up that he wants to do. And you have to be willing to be obedient to that. You don't want FOMO. Do you know what FOMO is? Fear of missing out. You do not want to have a fear of missing out on what God can do through you in someone else's life. Again, the episode with Scott was so powerful, so freeing, so encouraging, and he gave us simple ways to share the gospel. I was very encouraged having him on the podcast. I know that you will be as well, because it is scary to share the gospel with somebody. You're afraid of being rejected. You're afraid of someone laughing in your face or telling you to go away or some other colorful phrase that they might use for that. But as Scott gently reminded us, it's not rejection of us. us. It's rejection of God. That is powerfully freeing for us. It's not about us. It's not about what we want. It's about doing the will of God. If he is calling you to do something, you need to do it. Otherwise, you are willfully sinning. And in James, it tells us that if you know what you ought to do and you don't do it, you are sinning. This is not okay. You cannot live this kind of life. You need to be in the will of God. You don't want FOMO. So let's get out there and let's stay focused on the mission, which is sharing the gospel through our actions, maybe through actually sharing the gospel. Maybe it's through your testimony. Whatever way God wants to work on you, you need to allow him to do that. Don't get in the way. And certainly don't get in the way when you see him wanting to work through one of your children. I share a great example of this in the episode. Make sure you listen to it. Again, the title of this episode that I did with Scott is How to Respond When God Calls You to Love the People Others Avoid. There was a great example in there of how my son was to be used by God and my response to that situation. You don't want to miss what happened with that, so make sure you check out the episode. We need to step out of the way when God is calling our children to do something for him. We need to let them do that. That is how their relationship with God is going to increase, right? That's how it did for us. We didn't have people pulling us along and telling us to do it and expect that that was going to make for a great relationship. If you had people doing that to you, if you grew up in a legalistic background like I did, And people were telling you what to do. Did you feel close to God during that time? I know I didn't. I constantly was wondering if I was going to heaven, if I was good enough. We need to allow our children to have encounters with Jesus on God's terms with them, not what we think. It doesn't matter how a person handles the money that your kids may want to give them. We need to allow them that opportunity and see what God does with that. It could change that person's life. It could change your child's life. So as I wrap up this mini-sode, I want to ask you one question. Have you experienced FOMO before? The fear of missing out?
