The focus of this episode is on a controversial topic in the leather industry: the carbon footprint of leather. The tanning industry has transformed from an environmentally hostile business to a sustainable eco-friendly industry over the decades, however, the industry’s efforts and improvements have not been properly conveyed or recognized by the general public and is the subject of negative publicity on a regular basis.

We depict the evolution and controversy about greenhouse gas emissions from cattle and highlight the way natural materials like leather can play an active role in limiting climate impacts.
