Description

Vanessa Williams, the first black woman to be crowned Miss America, joins us on N'DIGO Studio. With a career spanning singing, acting, and even producing, Vanessa is a true multi-talent. Hailing from a musical family in New York, she excels in classical and jazz music, as well as various instruments. Vanessa's versatility is evident in her award-winning projects, from jazz and R&B to starring on Broadway. In our conversation, she shares her experiences and highlights, including singing at the Super Bowl and the Academy Awards. Vanessa also discusses her latest venture, producing the Broadway production "A Wonderful World," which tells the story of the legendary Louis Armstrong.

As a black woman, if there's an issue, you know, you can come to me. I don't care what it is. If you feel unsafe in a room, if you feel uncomfortable about some dialogue, if there's somebody that's given you some issue, I want to know about it. - Vanessa Williams

Venturing into a new domain, Vanessa is channeling her theatrical prowess towards producing, starting with the Broadway production of A Wonderful World. The musical, chronicling the life of Louis Armstrong as seen through the eyes of his four wives, aims to highlight both his triumphs and tribulations, including his battle against racial discrimination.
