Emanuel Chris Welch, the 70th speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, brings a wealth of experience and passion for education to the table. A graduate of Proviso West High School, Northwestern University, and the John Marshall Law School, Welch's journey into politics was rooted in his dedication to education, starting with his service on the local school board and eventually becoming its board president.
