Should the government force labs to label blood for vaccination status? The CAP issues a statement. And improving health around the world, one lab at a time. Receiving the COVID-19 vaccine should not result in separating blood donations. The CAP issues a statement opposing requirements for labeling blood products based on a donor's vaccination status. CAP President Dr. Donald Karcher says segregating blood products would reduce availability and endanger patient care. You can read the full CAP position statement in the show notes. In other lab medicine news. The CAP's Laboratory Accreditation Program is removing barriers to quality for labs worldwide. A new article in the July issue of Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine spotlights how the CAP is helping a hospital lab in Vietnam raise the bar for quality.
