Pathologists and laboratorians heading to Boston for the Association for Molecular Pathology, or AMP's, annual meeting can level up their inspection skills a day early. On Tuesday, November 11th, the CAP will host a Molecular Pathology Inspector Training Seminar at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. The session will be led by Dr. Earle Collum, Dr. Michael Datto, and Christine Braun. It will cover inspection techniques and checklist requirements for labs performing next-generation and Sanger sequencing. Participants can earn CME or CE credit and train as CAP inspectors. Pathologists Facing Mergers, workforce shifts, or cultural change can gain new insights in the CAP's upcoming roundtable, Leadership Through Transitions and Change, on October 28th at 1 p.m. Central Time. The session will be moderated by the CAP's Dr. Cedric Bailey and Dr. Diana Murro Lin. It will feature Dr. Richard Cote of Washington University Medicine in St. Louis and Dr. Kshitij Arora of Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. Sarah Galloway won last year's CAP Foundation Sparking Interest in Pathology Award. The med student used the award to stage a series of hands-on workshops about pathologist activities at California University of Science and Medicine. The award offers up to $500 for projects that showcase pathology, from student groups to guest speakers to networking events. Applications close December 17th. And finally, Woodlawn Health Laboratory in Rochester, Indiana has earned accreditation from the CAP after a successful on-site inspection. The 25-bed critical access hospital serves a rural population living about two hours north of Indianapolis. Laboratory Director Emily Schouten said, quote, I am so proud of our team. Woodlawn is compared to the standards of much larger organizations and every inspection we excel, which provides our community with quality care.
