- Dr. Donald Karcher
Dr. Zhai, it is my personal honor to install you as the 39th president of the College of American Pathologists. Please raise your right hand and repeat after me.

Dr. Jim Zhai taking the oath as the CAP's 39th president on Saturday morning. Dr. Donald Karcher handing over the gavel after two years leading the organization.
- Dr. Donald Karcher
Jim, I'm happy to help you in any way I can. So let's now all move forward together and with confidence to that very bright future.

In his inauguration remarks, Dr. Zhai spoke with humor and humility, sharing a story from his youth, a 40-day, 3,000-mile bicycle trip across China, telling the audience it's this same determination he intends to bring to the job as the organization's president.
- Dr. Jim Zhai
One, I had to connect. I couldn't do the trip alone. Two, I had to inspire. I had to convince others it was possible. The risk was calculated. And three, I had to embrace. Bold action meant change, accepting the unknown.
- Robert Johnson
Andy says he's ready to help the CAP embrace the challenges ahead.
- Dr. Jim Zhai
Workforce shortage, payment pressures, political uncertainty, technology disruption, understanding and applying artificial intelligence. Together, we can turn these challenges into opportunities.
- Robert Johnson
Dr. Kalisha Hill also took the stage on Saturday, assuming her new role as the CAP's president-elect, offering an enthusiastic recitation of the oath of office.
- Dr. Kalisha Hill
Yeah, I did feel the excitement, and particularly at the end when it said, you know, serving, it basically says serving through it all, no matter what, so help me God. And it's just a true statement, like you need all forces behind you to do the work that lies before us.
- Robert Johnson
Also sworn in this weekend, newly elected board governors, Drs. Aaron Han and Raj Dash. And re-elected governors, Drs. Earl Collum and M.E. "Doc" Baca. One final note, Dr. Cullen Lilley is the new chair of the Residents Forum, the vote coming Saturday. Congratulations to everyone. It's already been a busy few days at the meeting for the CAP Foundation and its board, starting with a fundraising dinner Friday night. Guest speaker Kristina Guerrero telling her story, crediting pathologists for saving her life after a rare breast cancer diagnosis.
- Kristina Guerrero
I'm just one patient with an experience whose life was saved because of the work that they did, and so on behalf of myself and anybody else who maybe that they've treated, I want them to recognize that it is appreciated. I see them, and I appreciate and am grateful for their work.
- Robert Johnson
Finally today the Foundation Board and staff doing whatever they can to raise awareness for the Foundation's mission. This time a song written with the help of actor and songwriter Matt Pablo.
- Matt Pablo
They called me up to be a part of this awesome experience, a team-building experience and basically sharing my knowledge in songwriting and singing to build a song from scratch about them and telling their stories and getting together as a team.
