Today, two new CAP member benefits. Plus, pathologists discuss helping patients understand their diagnoses, coming up on the Path News Network. This is the Path News Network Daily Edition, powered by the College of American Pathologists. I'm Dafna Farkas. It's Wednesday, November 26. Here are the latest headlines. Showing patients what their cancer looks like under the microscope. The CAP Foundation is out with a new episode of its podcast, Beyond the Test, Connecting Communities Through Pathology. The latest show features a conversation between two pathologists working to put pathologists in front of patients, Dr. Michael Misialek, Chair of Pathology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts, and Dr. Lija Joseph, Chief of Pathology at Lowell General in Boston. Dr. Joseph says the most powerful moments happen when patients see their own slides and better understand their diagnosis.
We show their name on the glass slide. It seems like a part of that patient experience that is an aha moment for them. When they see their name on it, they say, so this is really me?
New podcast episodes are released every month. CAP On Demand provides a personalized learning experience exclusively for CAP members. Dr. Joel Moncur, chair of the CAP's Council of Scientific Affairs, explained the need for this new Netflix-style educational content. Quote, pathologists are always looking for great educational content. They have to embrace both the fundamentals of the practice of pathology and the frontiers of future practice. And finally, there's a new platform where CAP members can connect. Regardless of where members are in their careers or locations, PathTogether is the place to share feedback, ideas, and innovations. The 24/7 networking hub also provides a flexible mentorship program, connecting pairs of pathologists who have shared goals and interests. Check out CAP On Demand and PathTogether in today's show notes. That's all for today. Be sure to watch your inbox for more news like this in the CAP's advocacy newsletter every Tuesday and our weekly edition newsletter every Thursday. We'll be going on a short break for Thanksgiving, but you can listen here again Monday, December 1st at 5 a.m. Eastern Time for another episode of The Daily Edition. I'm Dafna Farkas. Have a happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season.
