The weather may be heating up, but summer advocacy doesn't need to cool down. And what's the one thing CAP experts say to never do to a pesky mosquito bite? Here are the latest headlines. Medicare will soon cover more pathology services for genetic tests. The CAP advocated to change two Medicare local coverage determinations, or LCDs, for inherited aortic disease. The new policies will take effect in 23 states starting August 17th. For more details about the expanded coverage, read today's show notes. The saliva from mosquitoes creates an immune response that makes our skin itch when we get bitten. In an interview with Huffington Post, Dr. Bobbi Pritt, chair of the CAP's Council on Scientific Affairs, advises people not to scratch the bite because it can rub bacteria from your skin into the open wound, potentially causing an infection.
