I'm Daphna Farkas. It's Wednesday, February 18. Timely and accurate HIV diagnosis remains essential as testing scenarios grow more complex. In this month's Clinical Pathology Improvement Program, CAP member Dr. Sujad Hassan walks pathologists through challenges such as identifying HIV during labor, confirming status before starting or restarting PrEP, and interpreting resistance testing in the era of newer antiviral agents. The course also covers test cross-reactivity in patients who have received CAR T-cell therapy, offering practical guidance for reliable diagnosis and treatment decision-making. Kicking off the Pathologist Leadership Summit experience, CP members can take part in a hands-on workshop. focused on strengthening their influence with hospital leadership. Collaborative negotiations with the C-suite, in partnership with American College of Healthcare Executives, offers practical skills for negotiating, resolving conflicts, and communicating with executives. This is just one of several learning opportunities for members looking to better advocate for themselves and their profession throughout PLS, April 25-28 in Washington, D.C. For pathologists, Being able to explain your expertise on patient care, laboratory quality, or emerging issues helps shape how the profession is understood. The CAP is offering members a chance to practice talking to the media. A virtual media training session on Wednesday, March 18th will help members focus on communicating with confidence and strengthening their personal brand. The session covers how to craft concise messages, translate complex topics for general audiences, and stay steady during interviews. And finally, the CAP's Residence Forum this spring brings pathology trainees together to share perspectives, develop leadership skills, and engage with peers on professional issues. Serving as the organized voice of pathology residents, the forum provides a structured setting for discussion, education, and early career development. Dr. Ronza Pinedo, a fourth-year resident at the University of Iowa, has attended both the Spring and Fall Residence Forum meetings since 2022.
