a new warning from the FDA about false positive lab tests, and an opportunity for pathology residents to advocate on Capitol Hill. Coming up next, welcome to Path News Network Daily Edition from the College of American Pathologists. Today is Tuesday, February 10th. I'm Brittani Riddle. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning healthcare providers and laboratory staff about the risk of false positive blood lead test results. The agency says some tests may show higher lead levels than what's actually present when specific capillary blood collection tubes are used with lead care testing systems. The FDA recommends that these tubes not be used while the issue is being investigated. Read today's show notes for guidance for healthcare providers. After much negotiation, lawmakers reached a deal ending a partial government shutdown and delaying cuts. to Medicare lab tests. The agreement pauses planned Medicare cuts of up to 15%, pushing them back by one year. The delay gives Congress more time to work on a long-term fix. Read today's advocacy news for what's next for pathologists. The CAP will continue advocating for long-term payment reform. CAP members are encouraged to join PathNet, the CAP's grassroots advocacy network, for the latest on legislative issues and policies pertinent to pathology. And finally, are you a pathology resident and want to attend this year's House of Delegates and Pathologists Leadership Summit? Apply now for the Resident Advocacy Development Award.
