  This week, Congress puts the Results Act under the microscope. What pathologists should know, coming up next. Welcome to the Path News Network Daily Edition, powered by the College of American Pathologists. Today is Tuesday, January 6. I'm Brittany Riddle. Here's the latest news. Key legislation to stop Medicare payment cuts is on this week's full agenda as Congress returns to Capitol Hill. On Thursday, the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health is scheduled to hold a critical hearing on several legislative Medicare services proposals. One the CAP is watching closely is the Reforming and Enhancing Sustainable Updates to Laboratory Testing Services, or the Results Act. If it passes, the bill will stop up to 15% Medicare payment cuts to clinical lab tests starting January 31st. The CAP will monitor and update you on the latest news as it develops. In state health care news, the Illinois Department of Insurance is incorporating new standards into the 2026 Health Plan Network Adequacy Checklist. Starting January 1st, the Prairie State put tougher rules in place requiring insurance networks to include key hospital specialists like pathologists to improve patients' access to care. The checklist changes are a result of the advocacy by the Illinois Society of Pathologists and the CAP to pass. 2024's Network Adequacy Law. The new year may bring changes in how health quality is tracked. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is considering moving toward digital quality measures and the CAP is advocating for you. The CAP submitted comments in response to CMS's request for feedback on the benefits, challenges, and resources needed. The CAP emphasized that the development of quality measures should remain with clinical experts and will continue to advocate that pathologists can benefit from digital quality measures.
