This is the Path News Network Daily Edition, powered by the College of American Pathologists. I'm Stevon Burrell, sitting in today for Nancy Johnson. It's Monday, August 25th, and here are the latest headlines. Maryland health officials say students need to be ready for school with their vaccines. CAP member Dr. David Schwartz told the Baltimore Banner, quote, schools should emphasize handwashing, keeping sick kids home, and getting vaccines in the fall, end quote. Find out more in today's show notes. Meanwhile, Salem Regional Medical Center's lab in Salem, Ohio, earned CAP accreditation with no deficiencies. Inspectors conducted an extensive review of records, equipment, safety, and staff qualifications. President and CEO Dr. Anita Hackstedde said their recognition reaffirms the medical center's commitment to safe, high-quality laboratory services. At CAP25, pathologists will have the chance to sharpen their diagnostic skills in head and neck cancer. Attendees will learn strategies to avoid errors with P16 staining and how to apply confirmatory HR-HPV tests when they're needed. This CME session offers one credit. HR-HPV testing in head and neck FNA specimens runs September 16th from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Eastern. And if problem solving in real time is more your speed, another CAP25 course will put you in the hot seat. The session is called What's Your Problem? Ask the CP Experts. You can ask a panel of specialists your toughest questions in clinical pathology. The program runs September 13th from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Eastern and also offers one CME credit. Find out about these courses and others by visiting the links in the show notes. That's all we have for today. You can find us on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, or Spotify. Subscribe on your favorite platform. Look for more news like this in our weekly email newsletters published every Tuesday and Thursday. We're back tomorrow at 5 a.m. Eastern with more CAP News. For The Daily Edition, I'm Stevon Burrell. Have a great day.
