This verse-by-verse exposition of Proverbs 5:20-23 confronts the bondage of sin head-on. If you've been asking why you can't break free from a sin you keep going back to — the screen, the bottle, lust, the habit you swore you'd quit — this sermon shows you what's really wrong with it. It isn't a list of rules. It's a rope. And freedom from sin doesn't come from pulling harder.

The chapter ends with four movements: a question, an eye, a cord, and a grave. A heartbroken father doesn't ask his son "how" — he asks "why." Why trade a fountain at home for a puddle in the dark? And then the warning lands: the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord. There is no private sin. The same hand you reach out to embrace it with becomes the hand it binds.

This message traces how a man becomes "holden with the cords of his sins" — active in his own ruin, but powerless in his own rescue — and then turns to the only One who can cut a cord no blade can break. Christ reached for the verbs that belong to us: we should have been taken, bound, swept away to die. They took Him. They bound Him. He bore the rope we braided. And He walked out of the grave.
