This expository preaching message closes out our series through Proverbs 6 by

tracing one of the chapter's sharpest contrasts: a starving thief has a motive,

a mercy, and a number he can pay — sevenfold, steep as it is, has a bottom. But

the man who commits adultery has none of that. If you've wrestled with the

consequences of sexual sin, or wondered how forgiveness and consequence can both

be true at the same time, this verse-by-verse teaching addresses it directly.

This message doesn't soften the text. It works through the wound that "shall not

be wiped away," the rage that jealousy produces, and the sobering reality —

proven out in the life of David himself — that God's forgiveness and a broken

household are not contradictions. God forgave David completely. The sword still

never left his house.
