Description

In this 3rd episode of the second AspirE podcast series sheds light on the case studies of the Thailand and Finland teams.

Covering two universities (Mahidol University in Thailand and Tampere University in Finland) and an NGO (The Isaan Record), this episode unveils the mobility policies related to seasonal labour migration, in particular regarding the berry picking industry. It brings to the fore the results of expert interviews conducted by the two universities from August 2023 to March 2024.

A warm thank you to Ardchawit InhaKowit PhotisanKwanchanok Jaisuekun, and Minna Seikkula for making this episode possible.

----------------------------------

The AspirE Podcast dives into the human side of (re)migration in and to the EU. Produced as part of the 3-year Horizon Europe project AspirE ("Asian Prospects in (re)migration to/within the EU") and coordinated by Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot, Catherine Gonzalez and Frederik Ponjaert (EAst) for the Université libre de Bruxelles, the podcast explores why people decide to move—or stay—through a unique lens that is gender-aware, decolonial, and context-sensitive.

Across three series, you'll hear from researchers, experts, and aspiring (re)migrants themselves. From policy analysis to personal video diaries, AspirE examines how migration decisions are shaped by time, relationships, emotions, and systems—both in Asia and Europe.
