Is work sucking the life out of you because it doesn’t align with your values?
Do you feel stuck between wanting a purposeful career and having to make money?
Afraid that if you invest in your regenerative ideas, it might all be a spectacular failure?

You are not alone! This podcast will empower you to make a significant positive contribution, quit corporate life, and find purposeful work that actually makes a difference in the world—work that brings you variety, flexibility, energy, and excitement!

I’m Alisa Murphy, a Regenerative Career and Business Mentor. My own career has been full of twists and turns but always led by purpose, and I’ve been the primary earner for my family along the way.

After selling a successful business in the climate tech sector, I was ready for a new chapter. I yearned for a deeper connection with the natural world but couldn’t see how to connect that with my skills or turn it into a viable business.

So, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. I let myself play and trusted my curiosity. I spent as much time as possible in nature and worked hard to disentangle myself from the corporate conditioning that told me I was losing my way.

Through this process, I remembered who I was and reconnected with the things that truly mattered. I uncovered the most important threads of my life and finally understood how to weave them together into the joyful, satisfying work I do today—helping you take the same journey!

      25. What Is Your Corporate Salary Really Costing You?

Money is the biggest blocker to pursuing a regenerative career, but the reality is, you’re already paying a very high price for that corporate salary. Money makes the world go round they say. The truth is that money also controls us. It traps us into jobs that we probably never intended for ourselves. It holds us back from the dreams of our childhoods and the creative callings of our adult lives. In a corporate setting, money is particularly powerful. You are paid well for your work, your healthcare may be taken care of, you have a company car, you get bonuses or dividends and before you know it, leaving no longer feels like a possibility.  If that describes you, you’re probably very well aware of what you stand to lose financially if you were to finally step away from that corporate job. But have you really stopped to think about what that corporate paycheck is costing you?  In today’s episode, let’s take an honest look at the cost of that secure paycheck that’s keeping you stuck in a job that’s sucking the life out of you. The more you understand about the price you’re already paying, the less you may find that money is such a dominant factor in your future career choices.  Download my free guide "How to Progress Your Regenerative Career Without (Yet!) 24: Seeking an Injection of God In Your Regenerative Business

What if the missing piece in your work isn’t more strategy, effort, or even rest—but something deeper? Something that wakes you up, reminds you of who you are, and reconnects you to what matters? In this episode, I share a simple but powerful shift that has transformed my mornings—and, unexpectedly, my approach to business. It started with a pre-dawn walk, just me, my cocker spaniel, and the dark sky, and became what my sibling described as an Injection of God. I’ll explore what that means, how it relates to regenerative work, and how we can cultivate more thrill, discomfort, adventure, and connection in our careers. Because a regenerative business isn’t just about sustainability—it should make you feel alive. You’ll hear: Why stepping into the unknown (literally) shifted my energy and focus How we’re conditioned into comfort and distraction—and how to resist it Ways to bring this sense of aliveness into your business without burnout The importance of balancing stretch with restoration so you can sustain your purpose-driven work And if you’re navigating the transition from corporate work to something more meaningful, my Vision to Reality Career Transition Program can help you map out your path with clarity and confidence. 22: Stop Letting Money Decide— Start Purposeful Work You Love TODAY

In this podcast episode, I invite you to rethink the role money plays in our approach to work. For many of us, money feels like the biggest obstacle standing between us and the work we truly want to do. But what if we dared to imagine a different way—one where money takes a backseat, and passion, purpose, and curiosity take the lead? I’ll share my experience as an actor, where I learned how to stop waiting for permission to do the work I loved and instead started taking action. I’ll guide you through thought-provoking questions to help you explore what’s possible when we decenter money in our decisions, even just for a moment.  What could you try? Who might you collaborate with? How could you start today? I also encourage you to take a playful approach: what if you set aside the question of how to make money from regenerative work and simply focused on doing it? I’ll share practical ideas for getting started, building confidence, and finding value in the process itself. If money feels like a barrier and you’re longing to reconnect with meaningful work, this episode offers a fresh perspective and tangible steps to help you move forward. 21: How Community Activism Can Inspire Regenerative Work

Today, I invite you to join me in exploring what community activism can teach us about regenerative work. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been part of a local campaign to save a group of mature trees in my small town. It’s been an experience filled with both grief and hope—and it’s taught me some unexpected lessons about what it means to work regeneratively. Typically when we think about work, we focus on individual effort and outcomes. But what if work could also be about coming together, about collaboration and shared purpose? In this episode, I reflect on how our campaign, without formal structures or hierarchies, has thrived through self-motivation, intergenerational collaboration, and a deep connection to something bigger than ourselves. I also share a mindset shift around the biggest challenge most of us face when pursuing regenerative work: making money. That's where so many of us get stuck. What if we redefined work not just as the thing that earns us money, but as any effort we put into making a positive impact? How might that open up new possibilities for how you engage with your community, nature, and your own sense of purpose? If you’re feeling the weight of corporate influence or struggling to find meaning in your current career, I hope this episode inspires you to think differently about what work can be. Tune in, reflect on your own definition of work, and if you are interested in co-creating a Regenerative Worklife community, you can reach me at alisa@regenerativeworklife.com (mailto:alisa@regenerativeworklife.com). 20: Want to Work Sustainably? Shift Your Focus from WHAT to HOW

In this episode, I invite you to explore a different way of thinking about sustainable work—one that focuses not just on what we do, but on how we approach it. Too often, we focus on the labels, the tasks, the job titles, and the outcomes. But if the way we work leaves us drained, disconnected, and constantly pushing for more, can we truly call it sustainable? I’ll share my personal journey of breaking free from corporate conditioning and how I’ve been learning to work regeneratively—with joy, rest, and connection at the center. I also offer you a playful challenge: what if you let go of the need to figure out exactly what your work should be and instead focused on how you show up every day? I’ll suggest a few simple but powerful regenerative habits you can try, whether you work for yourself or in a more traditional environment. These habits are about creating space for creativity, reflection, and life-giving work—a stark contrast to the constant corporate drive for efficiency and output. If you’re feeling stuck in your career or craving a deeper connection to nature, community, and purpose, this episode might just offer the shift in perspective you need. What happens when self-doubt creeps into your regenerative career journey? In this episode, I share a personal story of finding unexpected wisdom from the backseat of my car, thanks to my 4-year-old son’s impromptu song. Together, we’ll unpack the six reasons crises of confidence often arise in regenerative work, from letting go of old tools that no longer serve us to navigating the weight of systemic change and eco-anxiety. You'll discover practical strategies for overcoming these moments of uncertainty, including how to reconnect with your "why," embrace a beginner's mindset, and find solace in community. Plus, hear the heartfelt words of a little song that might just inspire you to keep practicing and moving forward, no matter how wobbly the road feels. If you've ever doubted your ability to make an impact or struggled with the loneliness of forging your own path, this episode is a reminder that you're not alone—and that confidence is a skill we can nurture together. 18: Find Your Focus, Get Your Hands Dirty, Create Things That Matter (Regenerative Sticking Point with Cloé)

Many people working in corporate sustainability—like Cloé—feel deeply frustrated by the gap between their desire to create meaningful change and the reality of their work. They’re passionate about addressing challenges like climate change, fostering stronger communities, and reconnecting with nature, but often find themselves stuck, overthinking the “perfect” career path. The result? No action, and no impact. In this episode, I sit down with Cloé to explore how to break free from that paralysis and start making tangible progress toward a career that matters. Together, we discuss: Why searching for the “perfect option” can keep you stuck. How to shift from overthinking to taking small, actionable steps forward. The power of guiding questions like “What brings me joy?” and “What am I most likely to move forward with?” How small, hands-on experiments—like growing mushrooms in your shoe cupboard—can spark creativity, clarity, and confidence. Cloé’s journey highlights how aligning with your values—whether through community, nature, or impact-driven projects—can help you regain focus and build momentum. Progress doesn’t require perfection; sometimes, the best way forward is simply to get your hands dirty and see what grows. Whether you’re feeling stuck, doubting your impact, or unsure where to start, this episode will inspire you to take meaningful action toward a regenerative, sustainable career.

Download my free guide "How to Progress Your Regenerative Career Without (Yet!) What if the missing piece in your work isn’t more strategy, effort, or even rest—but something deeper?

19: How To Handle A Regenerative Crisis Of Confidence (According To My 4 Year Old Son!)

Tune in for actionable advice, vulnerable reflections, and a sprinkle of childlike wisdom.
