Description
RESONANCE: Responsiveness and Responsibility in European Multilevel Governance
How can the European Union balance effective long-term governance with the demands of democratic politics?
The RESONANCE project explores how responsibility and responsiveness interact in European multilevel governance. It examines how European institutions and national governments respond to democratic demands while also maintaining the rules and commitments needed for long-term political and economic stability.
Building on the research of Professor Johannes Karremans, the project looks at how this balance changes over time and across European countries. Through research and discussion, RESONANCE explores what this tension means for European governance and democratic legitimacy today and in the coming years.
