Angelika Bocian-Jaworska is CEO and founder of Äerd Lab, building the next generation of construction materials by transforming clay waste into low-carbon, unfired building products.
With a background in architecture, Angelika saw firsthand the potential of clay as a beautiful, local and sustainable material, and the paradox that huge amounts of excavation clay are still treated as waste. She decided to turn that problem into an opportunity.
Today, Äerd Lab combines material science, geopolymers and 3D printing to transform locally sourced clay waste into bricks, facade elements and architectural components, while eliminating the energy-intensive firing process.
