Description
My dear Models, in Hollywood as in our own mental wardrobes, a terrifying injunction is being sewn right into our skin: the race for eternal youth. From the display windows of The Beauty to the body horror of The Substance, they are trying to sell us the illusion that a beautiful material is one that refuses the passage of time.
Today, we turn on the harsh light of the Atelier to unstitch the cult of the synthetic and the "vinyl" which, by refusing to age, always ends up cracking under pressure. We are replacing the anxiety of anti-aging with a much nobler architecture: Inner Ecology.
In this PopUp, we will examine under our thread counter:
The plastic syndrome: Why refusing wear and tear turns us into inanimate objects.
The "pleats of ease": How leatherworking teaches us to redefine our wrinkles as the marks of our movement and survival.
Nourishing the material: Why we must maintain our bodies not to look brand new, but to preserve our suppleness and our Drape.
🪡 New entry in the Manufacture's Glossary:
The Patina: (noun) The added value of time on a noble material. The refusal of the synthetic. The art of maintaining one's suppleness while proudly embracing one's pleats of ease. The Patina is the elegance of survival.
