Speaker #0who that to the who that nation welcome to the who that say podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network i am your fellow who that and host of the show kevin reed and miss gail benson has just unleashed her fury she has made a statement as far as the state of the new orleans saints currently coming off of three consecutive losses all three in the caesar superdome at home two of those three were pretty lopsided and the saints are one and four at the start of the season for the second year in a row and gail benson she she's not happy along with the rest of the houdat nation I was hoping and praying that she stepped up to the plate again. It's sad that she has to do this. It's really sad because we all know Ms. Benson. She is not that type of owner. She's not a Jerry Jones who's in front of a camera and a microphone every single week. She isn't even her late husband, Tom Benson. He'll jump in front of a microphone every now and then, especially when the Saints... uh embarrass themselves he would he would uh he would go on epic rants as well but she she's not that even even a couple of years ago when she made that move and fired dennis allen she did it under the cloak of darkness she didn't you know get out there and uh hold a news conference and say yeah we relieved them of the services and all this here she's not that type of person So for her, and to be honest with you, she didn't do it this time. She didn't get in front of the cameras and all this. This was at a quarterbacks club meeting, some organization, whatever it is. But it was a private event or whatever. But, you know, it's 2026. Somebody whipped out their phone and hit record. And I'm so glad that they did. And she just... she just couldn't take it anymore it's just like all of us and she basically has said what we all been saying but she's saying it from a standpoint of this is her team and she's tired of the foolishness we're gonna go over her entire statement i'm gonna read to you her entire uh statement as far as what she said at this event and how she feels currently as far as the Saints and how she feels about certain people who she name dropped in this statement because I think this was a lighting of the match in the seat that Kellen Moore and Mickey Loomis currently sit in I think this week against the Giants is going to be telling for both of these gentlemen and you can't take it lightly You cannot go out there next week and perform the way you've been performing the last three weeks and expect to keep your job. Because honestly, my problem with this whole thing here, you know, for the last few weeks, I'm sorry, for the entire season so far, is the fact that it feels like, I'm not saying that's what it is, but it feels like, Kelly Moore coaches as if. he's not going to lose his job he's coaching this team like he knows he's going to be here next week or at the end of the season there's no fear there there's no there's zero fear of accountability over there on airline well accountability just showed up here is the statement from miss gail benson at this uh event this is the full speech uh she starts off Before we embark on our 60th season, I want to address where we stand. We are one in four, and that is not acceptable to me, and it falls short of what our fans truly deserve. I hear the frustration directed towards our team and our organization. It is not lost on me. Our fans invest their time and their hearts into the Saints. They are right to expect. more. than what we have delivered. As an owner, the responsibility does start with me. I will not make excuses. I will not accept this level of performance as our standard. I am committed to making the decisions necessary to improve this team. Just to pause for a second. That was a bar. She came with that one. She is prepared to make... any decision necessary to improve this team you can read between the lines you know exactly what she is saying at this juncture in that statement continuing uh everyone in in this organization understands the urgency we must prepare better execute consistently and correct the mistakes that are costing us the costing us the games words will not restore our fans confidence our performance must do that our 60th season reminds us why that responsibility matters generations of families have built their sundays around the new orleans saints their loyalty has sustained this franchise through extraordinary victories in very difficult years we must never take it for granted 20 years ago The Saints returned to the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina and we all remember the Steve Gleason block punt. The roar of the crowd and what it meant to see our city come together once again. Losing this year's anniversary game to Atlanta was truly disappointing. Hearing our fans memories of the homecoming reinforce how deeply the team is woven into our lives. And I'm going to pause yet again. That game, that game, that's why I was so upset. That's why a lot of people were so upset. That game was more than just a game. It was so much more on top of that Monday night game against the Atlanta Falcons. And it's not so much you lost. Y'all didn't show up. The effort they put into that game was un- believably embarrassing. I didn't know that this team can sink to that level, ill-prepared and everything else. So that really, I think, started the wheels turning over there when it came to Ms. Benton. Continuing again, this season, we also honored Drew Brees at his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction, and this past Sunday, with his place in the Ring of Honor. Watching Drew receive his green jacket at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium was especially meaningful to me, of course. His legacy includes a championship, records, and a lasting commitment to New Orleans. It also includes a standard of preparation, discipline, and accountability. The best way to honor that legacy is to uphold those standards to date. Here's where it gets... Here's where it gets juicy. Kellen Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform. Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building a roster capable of sustaining success. Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution. And I'm responsible for holding this organization accountable. There is a great deal of football ahead of us, but our responsibility must show it on the field. On October 25th, as you all know, we face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris with a trip to the Giants this Sunday. Our priority is to prepare to win. Through the NFL's Global Markets Program, teams build relationships with fans internationally. And I chose France because of its deep historical and cultural ties to Louisiana. This game is part of our preparation of the Leeds International Schedule, and we intend to make that commitment count. Our business staff is working closely with the economy development leaders throughout Louisiana to attract international business and investments to our city, state, and country. and region. Those relationships can create opportunities here at home long after that game ends. I'm also working to bring the Super Bowl back to New Orleans in 2031. However, there is no promises from the league to date, and hopefully we will hear something in March. Our city's hospitality, culture, and people make us an exceptional host, and we are determined to earn that opportunity. Those efforts matter to our community. Our obligation... to deliver better football remains very clear to the coaches here today you all know what leadership requires when a team struggles you confront the problems make corrections and hold yourself to the same standard that you demand from others that is what i expect throughout our organization to our fans i hear you very loudly I understand your disappointment. I share your determination to see this team succeed. Your support deserves a response. You can see on the field. We cannot change the results of the first five games. We are responsible for what we do next. I expect better. Our fans deserve better. And I am determined to see that we deliver. End quote. That is the... full speech from miss gal benchin at the quarterbacks club event that was held on i think today tuesday and so she she has she has laid down the gauntlet she has drawn her line in the sand and i think at this point she's prepared to to cut some heads off i really do if things don't Turn around and turn around quick. And look, I'm not cheering this on, hoping that she cleans house, hoping that she fires everybody. Because you do that, think about it. We're starting over from scratch again. Now we have to kind of rebuild yet again. We have to go through all this again. And it's going to prolong the process. And I don't want that. I don't want that. I want these guys to get their act together. I need Kellen Moore to act like he won a Super Bowl coaching the Philadelphia Eagles as the offensive coordinator nonetheless, but he knows how to coach a championship team. I need to see that here in New Orleans. I need Mickey Loomis to get his head out of his behind and give Kellen Moore what he needs to succeed. Let me give you a statistic real quick about Mickey Loomis that's Probably gonna blow your mind. Pretty sure you know it. but i i'm a numbers guy i want to i love to see numbers or hear numbers that makes more sense in my head maybe you're like me as the gm of the new orleans saints mickey loomis let's start when he hired sean payton when he uh brought in drew breeze with drew breeze and sean payton mickey record team record is 150 and 90 That is 62.5%. That gave us a Super Bowl and nine playoff appearances. Since Drew Brees retired and Sean Payton left, and I put that in heavy quotations because I think there were some shenanigans behind that, but that's neither here nor there. Since those two have been gone, Mickey Loomis as a GM is 56-81. 40.9% Zero playoff appearances Zero division title If you ask me Accountability Should have been came into play When it came to Mickey Loomis Mickey Loomis Every decision he has made Since Sean Payton's exit Since Drew Brees retiring Has been a disaster Hiring Dennis Allen A disaster So far, the hire of Kellen Moore is not panning out. Bringing in free agents that don't pan out. Signing Derek Carr was a mistake. Multiple first round draft picks that were bust. I mean, come on, man. It's been a disaster. And yes, it's time. Now, I don't know how they're going to play all this out when it comes to Mickey Loomis. Let's say that she gets tired of Mickey Loomis as the GM. I don't know. But let's say that she does. I don't see how you can get rid of them. He's part owner. That's like going in and want to go to Dallas and want to fire Jerry Jones as the GM. But he's still the owner. But you're going to fire him as the GM. It's impossible. You can't. You can't. Unless he decide he want to stop being the GM. Same thing here. He's part owner. He's in Don Benson's will to stay on as the GM. I don't know how you can. Unless there's some type of way to buy him out or whatever. I don't know. I honestly don't know. But there has to be some type of change. Take some of his duties away. You know, take some of his power away. Something. Something needs to change. Something needs to change. So, I don't know, man. This really puts a must-win stigma on this Giants game this Sunday. They must win this game. And it sucks for them because Giants are a good team. Jameis Winston is playing out of his mind up there. Another decision that, hey, now it's Jameis. I get it. And I like Tyler Shuck. So it kind of panned out. But you get my drift here. It's going to be tough. It's going to be tough to travel up to New York and try to beat the Giants. I would say. Because I still don't believe they're going to beat the Giants. But you got to go up there and put forth some effort. You're going to have to put forth some effort. Make it a game. If you go out there like you have the last two weeks, I don't see them coming back to New Orleans with their jobs. I really don't. Because Gale is hot. Gale has seen enough. Gale has witnessed. You know what brought on? What? really brought on that is just my theory i don't have any facts to it but i can i can imagine this played a part you know what brought on dennis allen's firing uh team uh not teams but fans in the dome started booing opposing teams were cheering and they took over the dome well guess what's happening now you know what happened this past sunday in the dome when the saints fans left Middle of the fourth quarter after we was getting our behinds kicked, all of the Raiders, not Raiders, but they were there. Well, I'll get to them. But the Vikings fans, you know what you was hearing in the dome? Not who that. Skol. Skol. Yeah, that's what you was hearing in the dome. The Monday night game. Rise up. Yeah, you was hearing all that in the dome. And for the Raiders game, they took over. The Raiders fans just took over the dome. That's what got her attention. That's the part that's embarrassing because this is her business thing. You heard in her statement or in her speech how she talked about the business aspect of it all. She threw that in there. Like, look, y'all losing me, y'all going to lose me some money, especially if you bring this overseas, bring this over there to France and playing at this level. We're going to lose business. No, y'all going to have to correct this. That's basically what she's saying. And so... it's a money thing it's it's really a money she she's a business woman i get it i get it but hey man i i actually feel sorry for kelly moore i'll be honest with you i feel i feel kind of bad for him because boy you want to talk about pressure you want to talk about a hot seat lord have mercy he he he's gonna have to deliver this upcoming sunday And Mickey, like I said, I don't know how that all works, but we'll see. But what are your thoughts? Do you think that Gayle was out of line? Because I'm pretty sure they got some people out there like, oh, no, she shouldn't say that. She should have kept that behind closed doors and all that food. No, she needs to put the fans at ease. She needs to settle us down. Because we're ready to mutiny. We're ready to burn it all down at this point because we're mad. This is pure anger. We're past disappointment. We are hot. This is ridiculous what the product that's being placed out there. The one thing that she failed to mention, yeah, we put our hearts and our soul into this team, but we also put our money into this team. Whether you go to the games, whether you buy merchandise or... Whatever the case may be, some people, they buy the packages on TV who are not in the New Orleans area. They buy the Sunday tickets so they can watch the Saints, you know, stuff like that. We put our money into this, you know, so there's a lot of emotion wrapped up in all of this. Yeah, we love the team and all. Don't get me wrong. But at the end of the day, our money is going into this as well. But I want to know your thoughts.
