who that to the who that nation welcome to the dome patrol podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network i am your host kevin reed and the search is over the new orleans saints have hired their next head coach after a long and blood pressure increasing search the saints have hired their next head coach and i i'm kind of on the fence with this hire uh that you know there's no point lingering on with the with my feelings of it and there's nothing against kellen moore yes the new orleans saints have made it official as they welcome kellen moore to become the new orleans saints 19th head coach in franchise history we all know that you Kellen Moore. He is an offensive coordinator by trade, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Chargers, and most recently, the Philadelphia Eagles. Or should I put some respect on their names? The Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles. Yes, he is leaving behind his championship team to come and try to fix this kerfuffle of an organization. we know as the new orleans saints uh the reason i'm kind of on the fence with the kellen moore deal is because of that is because this team is in such disarray right now with the cap situation with the uh aging players with the quarterback room being in a condition that it is and yes we do have the number nine overall pick this season but It's going to be a long, long road till the Saints see some success, some real success. I'm guessing two to three years, three years really, before the Saints really start to turn this thing around with a new head coach, moving in some pieces, being able to bring in some new pieces to kind of help this squad out. The quarterback situation, our receiver situation, our aging defense. You know, there's a lot of fixing up to do in this house and Kellen Moore, God bless him. He's he's willing to take the task. But one of the things that I'm kind of like I said, there's no slight against him. We all know everybody knows that Kellen Moore was not the Saints first choice. He was not. And with that, with all that being said, is kind. it's kind of unfair to him because I have no ill will towards Kellen Moore. I think he's a really good offensive coordinator. He, I mean, he had Dallas looking electric when he was there, uh, what, two, three years ago, he looked really good. At least he had the, uh, offense looking really, really good. Uh, when he went to LA, you know, didn't really work out, but you also have to remember. When it came to the Chargers that year, I think Justin Herbert was hurt most of the season, and they just couldn't get it together. So he goes to Philly this year. Now, Philly is stacked. Philly got weapons on top of weapons. You have Jalen Hurts. You have Saquon Barkley. You have A.J. Brown. You have Devontae Smith. You have all these weapons, plus probably the best offensive line in football. And so— he had a lot to play with there and of course it was successful but we all know it doesn't matter how much talent you have you can have talent out the wazoo if you don't coach them right and put players in the right position to flourish they're not going to do anything kelly moore did and it resulted in a super bowl victory and my god what he did in that super bowl this that was the test for me that's the part where i'm like okay give me kelly moore you look at that super bowl and how they were able to adjust. Because Kansas City came in there, they came off the bus screaming to the top of their lungs, Saquon Barkley is not going to beat us today. And that was that. They made sure Saquon Barkley did nothing in that Super Bowl. They found a way to adjust. They made Jalen Hurst. which is weird to say, the focal point, but he's the quarterback. But, I mean, as far as making the throws, breaking a pocket when he needed to, finding other ways to move the ball. And kudos to Jalen Hurst, who was the MVP of the Super Bowl, and to his offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore. So I'm really impressed with that, happy that he knows how to adjust. That's something that this organization. has not been able to do in a long, long time. And it's a breath of fresh air to have somebody come in and have this ability that you would think is a no-brainer. But he's in for a long ride here. It's going to be a rough ride. And I do remember that before or when the playoffs started, I believe, the Saints... They were interviewing everybody. I think they even called me for an interview. I wasn't available, but they were calling everybody to try to get a head coach and Kellen Moore popped up on the list, but Kellen Moore kind of had, I don't know, what would you call it? Kind of a hesitation. He had a hesitation to put it mildly about coming to New Orleans. The reports have been saying that he didn't like the quarterback. That's the reason why he didn't want to come here at first. He didn't like the quarterback room. Who's in the quarterback room, you ask? Well, it's funny. I know who. It is Derek Carr. It is Spencer Rattler and Jake Hayden. Now, me being a huge Spencer Rattler fan, I think Spencer Rattler can be taught. If he's coached correctly, Spencer Rattler can be a decent quarterback. Now, Do I think Spencer Rattler is the answer? Will he turn into our franchise quarterback? I don't know. Jury's still out. So I can't really put my head on a chopping block with that one. But I feel more confident with Spencer Rattler under center than I do with Derek Carr. Are you as an organization willing to part ways with Derek Carr? Now, Miggy Loomis. in all of his infinite wisdom, he did say something. Now, we're going to find out if it's true or not. He did say in his end-of-the-season press conference, he didn't chew gum this time, surprisingly, he said that the new head coach will have more pull, more power, more say in the quarterback decision, in personnel decisions as a whole, but especially the quarterback position. So, if... kelly moore comes in here sees derrick carr it's not much to look at but he he looks at him and say well this ain't gonna work for me are the new orleans saints willing to part ways with derrick carr that's gonna be the million dollar question going forward you see what aaron glenn did in new york he told a first ballot hall of famer we're good we're moving on aaron rogers is gone in New York. And so can we do that? Can we do that? Will Derek Carr work in this system? Look, I hear all the Derek Carr fans out there. I understand that you're a fan. That's your guy. You're gonna boost up your guy. I get it. But let's be real for a second here, people. Derek Carr has been in every system. He's had every... I mean... He's had, what, about four different coaches, about six different offensive coordinators, and none of them can fix him. I don't see it happening this go-around. If I'm killing Moore, I'm not even taking that chance. I'm not even wasting my time. I don't have time to play around with Derek Carr. Let's move on, because this next season is pretty much a wash. You know, with the cap issue and all this here, it's a wash. Go head on. See what you got with these young players. See what you got. See if you need to move on from Spencer Rattler right now. I mean, he can be used as a good bridge quarterback, you know, because this year, as far as quarterbacks, drafting a quarterback, this is not a real good year to draft quarterback. I haven't seen anybody to wow me in the college ranks. quarterback play but you know i've been mistaken before i haven't seen every single quarterback plate to be completely fair and honest so maybe there's a diamond in the rough there but you know i i don't want to waste a pick on a quarterback this season let's let's address a more pressing need and to be honest with you i don't know where that is because it's everywhere when it comes to the new orleans saints but kellen moore is sticking around new orleans we know that he was here on sunday winning a Super Bowl and he loved it here so much he decided to plant his flag here in the 504. Kelly Moore is expected to agree to the deal to become the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints. This comes from the NFL Network as well as ESPN confirming these reports. The New Orleans Saints have issued a statement. Gail Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints, At the start of this process, it was important to find a head coach who was the right fit for the New Orleans Saints organization. Through the search process, it became clear that Kellen was the right person to help us reestablish a winning program and culture that our fans are accustomed to and have come to expect. I would like to thank Darren Rizzi for his service as interim head coach. and leading our team this past season, I am truly grateful for him. And I respect that from Gale Benson because they didn't have to do that, you know, to acknowledge what he did, Darren Rizzi. And I would like to thank him too. Darren Rizzi, it ain't like he went on a seven-game win streak or changed everything and, you know, just. brought back a winning culture but what he did do and this this doesn't get talked about enough but it really does he kept this team together this team had every right to just say forget it to pack it in to let it go i mean they pretty much did that before they fired dennis allen but once he took over as interim head coach he really brought this team together and you saw some fight in them yeah there was a couple of games there where the fight kind of left them but for the most part he really kept this team together and they played hard and that's all you can really ask for in a situation that the new orleans saints found themselves in this past season um the the one thing about gail benson's statement that kind of gives me pause is the fact like i said before that it came it became clear that kellen was the right person for the job He was the only person left for the job. Everybody else got hired. We are the last team to hire a head coach, even though we were the second team to move on from our head coach this season. But it took us forever to get a head coach. I just don't believe that Kellen Moore was your first choice. It just don't add up. The math ain't maffin' because Kellen Moore's name didn't come up until very late in the process. That's where I'm like, okay, so his name popped up. I mean, I guess they're doing their due diligence at this point. And then all of a sudden, names started getting scratched off the board, scratched off the board, and the only ones left was Kellen Moore and I think the offensive coordinator for the Giants and somebody else. The name's escaping me, but it just goes to show you, I can't even remember his name. I'm so dead. he must not been worth much but yeah you had to go with kelly moore and i think they had to back up the armored car to his house to get him here because like i said the reports came even though we didn't hear it come out of his mouth per se but there were multiple reports that said he was hesitant because of the quarterback and this is an offensive minded coach this is a i mean Look who he has played. Look what the quarterbacks he has had as offensive coordinator. For better or worse, he's had Dak Prescott. He's had Justin Herbert. He's had Jalen Hurts. I mean, you go from those three to Derek Carr? I mean, come on. I feel a little hesitant myself. No matter if becoming a head coach in the NFL is my lifelong dream. I don't know about this one, but our great general manager. I felt sick when I said it, so I apologize. The general manager of the New Orleans Saints, Mickey Loomis, he released a statement as well. It goes as such, I would like to welcome Kellen Moore and his family to New Orleans. He is an outstanding communicator with the ability to lead people and has a clear vision for this football team. Through this head coaching search, we had the opportunity to meet with several impressive candidates and i would like to thank them for their hard work and participation in this process i i am um you know it's weird that coming out of his mouth because let's not forget he's still butthurt over the dennis allen firing because he had nothing to do with it you know so this must have pained him to have to hire his you his besties replacement here in new orleans but uh we did have some impressive candidates come in here why they didn't leave here with a contract i don't know or better yet to frame it better why they left here why did they leave they should there was a few of them that i thought was shoe-ins i thought aaron glenn was a lock and i wasn't 100 behind aaron glenn I'm more excited about the Kellen Moore hire than I would have been about Aaron Glenn because the Saints needed an offensive-minded coach. That's just straight up. We couldn't have a defensive-minded coach, not at this time, not in this juncture in the state that we're in. We need to really focus on offense. Look at the successful teams in the NFL right now. All of them have offensive-minded coaches. We needed to go in that direction. So I didn't really feel it, but I would have understood it if they hired Aaron Glenn because of his ties to the organization and whatnot. So but in any event, Kelly Moore, he released the statement as well upon his hiring. I am excited to join the New Orleans Saints and deeply appreciate the faith that Mrs. Benson and the entire Saints organization have placed on. me. I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started. I would also like to thank the Philadelphia Eagles for an incredible 2024 season. I'm excited to begin a new chapter. I'm happy for them though. I am. I'm happy for the cat because at this point, I have the same feeling right now. I have the same feeling I felt back in 2006. You know, and I'm not trying to compare him to Sean Payton, but Sean Payton walked the same path, the similar path. He was also a Dallas defensive coordinator, I mean, offensive coordinator as well. So I guess that's the trend for us, getting a Dallas Cowboy offensive coordinator. Hopefully it's half as successful as it was the first go around for us. But, you know, we... don't know how this guy is as a leader of a team yes we've seen him um orchestrate off offensive uh get uh game plans together as an offensive coordinator and whatnot but as far as the team is he a leader of men can he get everybody on the same page can he get the best out of his players that's going to be the big challenge going forward? What type of identity will he imprint on this team? Because I don't know. I mean, he's an offensive coordinator. He's just there to call plays on offense. That's it, you know, for his last three stops. And so, you know, the jury's out. But I'm optimistic. I'm not poo-pooing on it. I know I said I'm, you know, not jumping over the moon about it, but I'm excited. I'm excited for this new chapter because this marks a change. This is truly the change that the Saints have needed to make since Sean Payton walked out the door. We needed to move on from this Sean Payton era. We needed to move on. He moved on, you know, but instead of moving on. we went down the same path we got dennis allen who tried to imprint the same sean payton tropes and it didn't work and it's just not working so we need a new voice we need a a fresh start and this is it you know there's a there's actually a different voice in the locker room now and so that's exciting that is super exciting now just going over this past season from kelly moore as the offensive coordinator for the philadelphia eagles uh the the super bowl i keep leaving that off the super bowl champion philadelphia eagles uh kelly moore he was a key piece to the coaching staff that led the eagles to a 14 and 3 record this uh past season and they tied a franchise mark in the regular season victories that was that was the uh uh the most in franchise history at least tied and they won the uh division the nfces as well they they clinched the number two spot and ultimately won the super bowl so with this offense it was ranked eight overall in net yards per game with 367.2 uh they were seventh in points per game with 27.2 the philadelphia eagles rushed for a single season club record 3048 yards six best in nfl history they finished second in the lead in rushing yards per game with 179.3 the 2024 eagles were only the second team in NFL history to rush for 3,000 plus yards and at least 25 touchdowns. They actually had 29 to be exact. The Eagles pass and attack also flourished under Kellen Moore's Tulalich, setting a franchise club record with 103.4 passer rating led by quarterback Jalen Hurst, who had a career high 103.7. ranked fifth best in the league. Now, let me put all this in perspective. That's the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's not. I'm not expecting those numbers to move over to the New Orleans Saints stat line this upcoming season. Let's if that's what you're expecting. I need y'all to relax. Calm. Just calm down. That's that's not going to happen. Philadelphia Eagles and you just you just heard a couple of names that I listed you had Jalen Hurts you had Saquon Barkley and you know what I'm saying so those that's different that's that's a different animal that is a completely different animal than what we have here in New Orleans we have talented players I'm not ragging on my team I love my team if you listen to me long enough you know I love my team but they aren't the Philadelphia Eagles As much as I love Alvin Kamara, he is not Saquon Barkley. No, they're two different running backs. They're completely different styles. You can't compare the two. But Saquon Barkley, he had a phenomenal season this year. Phenomenal. If one player I was super happy for winning the Super Bowl, it was Saquon Barkley. He really deserved it. That was an epic season that we just witnessed this past season from Saquon Barkley. Even though, ironically enough, in the actual game, in the Super Bowl, he did nothing. And it wasn't for a lack of trying. You just got to give a little credit to the Kansas City Chiefs. They zeroed in on him. They said, look, Jalen Hurts is going to have to beat us today because it won't be Saquon. And so... Yeah, I was happy for that. Jalen Hurst, I was happy for him. They did a phenomenal job. You know, those are Pro Bowl players. Those are MVP type players. And their offensive line is probably the best offensive line in football. I mean, come on. They were destined for greatness. Now, with that being said, like I said earlier, you need somebody to coach them right. These are, for the most part, the same players with the exception of Saquon Barkley. when they went to the Super Bowl two years ago, and they just couldn't cross that hump. And so they brought in Kellen Moore, and look what happened. You know, look at what happened throughout this season. They changed it up. Once again, going back to adjusting. He changed it up. They ran the ball more. They were more of a throw-type team previously, but they ran the ball more. Obviously, you just heard the numbers that I said. So... He found a way to win. You know, if something wasn't working, he found a way. And I saw that in Dallas when he was there in Dallas. They found the way. Now, once again, in Dallas, you had Dak Prescott. You had a good defensive line. You had CeeDee Lamb. You had Tony Pollard and a little bit of Ezekiel Elliott before. I don't know. He just fell off a cliff. But, once again, had a lot of talent surrounding him. But he coached that talent. You see the difference of that team with Kellen Moore and without Kellen Moore. Completely different team. And so that's encouraging. That is very encouraging. We'll see. The one other thing that I'm excited about is the potential coaching staff that he's putting together. Already you have names floated out there that I didn't even know were out and available. A name that was dropped that got me super excited was the defensive coordinator candidate, Brandon Staley. If you don't know who that is, he's the former head coach of, ironically, the Los Angeles Chargers. So he is known around the league as one of the best defensive minded coaches in the league. Defensive coordinators. He's one of the best. So you bring him in here. OK, then we're talking. Then we're talking. But I would love I can't wait to see how this staff comes together. I want to see what type of staff he brings in and, you know, what to. look for in this team going forward but uh that is that's it your coach for the new orleans saints finally it's official put it on the board kellen moore is the head coach of the new orleans saints i must say i'm i'm a little bit excited uh i gotta confess i'm a little excited about this hire i guess for the possibilities man and in the fact that we get to see something different It's going to be different. Now, what kind of different is going to be? We'll have to wait and see. But at least it's different. At least you're taking a swing here and, you know, prove all the haters wrong. Me being one of them. Prove me wrong, man. I mean, if he come in, definitely come in and say, look, Derek Carr, you can kick rocks. He already won my stamp of approval. So we'll see how this goes moving forward, how we're going to. fill out this staff how uh we're going to approach this draft let's not forget that the new orleans saints do have the number nine pick overall in this year's draft so that's a big big big decision that's in his lap uh again like i said kelly moore has a lot on his plate man i hope he knew what he was getting into and i hope he's prepared for the task at hand but i would like to know what do you think of this hire are you excited are you back back in the who that type of mood even though the season is over are you back in the who that type of mood and uh excited to see what kelly moore does for this franchise email the show kbradiopodcast at gmail.com you can also search for this show on all social media platforms just search for the kb radio network don't forget about youtube subscribe to the kb radio network channel on youtube and like this video if you don't mind don't forget about the five stars the reviews and sharing this show if you're listening on apple podcast spotify iheart radio wherever you are currently listening to the dome patrol your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network everybody thank you for joining me as we discussed the hiring of the 19th head coach in Saints history, Mr. Kellen Christopher Moore. Everybody, thank you for joining me, and thank you for joining me throughout this season. I know this was a rough one, because it was a rough one to cover, but I thank everybody for sticking around this NFL season for the New Orleans Saints, and hopefully, even though it was a bad one, it seems like it ended on a positive note. with this hire and so can we bring that positivity into next season and see a glimmer of success we shall see but until then i'm going to be screaming all some all spring all summer up to the fall who that

Kellen Christopher Moore. who that to the who that nation welcome to the dome patrol podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network i am your host kevin reed and the search is over the new orleans saints have hired their next head coach after a long and blood pressure increasing search the saints have hired their next head coach and i i'm kind of on the fence with this hire uh that you know there's no point lingering on with the with my feelings of it and there's nothing against kellen moore yes the new orleans saints have made it official as they welcome kellen moore to become the new orleans saints 19th head coach in franchise history we all know that you Kellen Moore. Description

The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have agreed with Kellen Moore to become the 19th head coach in franchise history.

Moore, a 13-year NFL veteran, played quarterback for six seasons (2012-17) and entered the coaching ranks in 2018, serving as an offensive coordinator for the past six campaigns. Moore comes to New Orleans after serving as offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, helping them win Super Bowl 59.

who that to the who that nation welcome to the dome patrol podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network i am your host kevin reed and the search is over the new orleans saints have hired their next head coach after a long and blood pressure increasing search the saints have hired their next head coach and i i'm kind of on the fence with this hire uh that you know there's no point lingering on with the with my feelings of it and there's nothing against kellen moore yes the new orleans saints have made it official as they welcome kellen moore to become the new orleans saints 19th head coach in franchise history we all know that you Kellen Moore.
