Speaker #0who that to the who that nation welcome to the who that say podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network i am your host kevin reed and the week five matchup between the new orleans saints and the minnesota vikings is in the books As the New Orleans Saints fall yet again, dropping their third consecutive home game, 23-13. The Minnesota Vikings are now 5-0 on the season, whereas the New Orleans Saints are 1-4. You know, I'm not even mad at the game and all this here. I'm really, I'm really. curious to all of these fans and i'll put that in heavy quotations who went at me last week when i posed the question is kellen moore the answer and i mean came hard in the paint i don't know what i'm talking about why am i doing this oh you you you shouldn't be doing the show all all these other foolishness i mean just came at me like i talked about their mama and i want to know what you have to say today because you sound like a fool when you did it that's why i ain't even respond to half of the crap because it you sound like an idiot because you try to justify something like i don't have eyes like i can't see that this team sucks but you It came at me before you went at this sorry head coach who has done the exact same thing for 22 straight weeks. This dude is trash. He needs to go. This team every single week looks unprepared, zero energy, completely lost on the field. We get it every week. Slow starts, don't know how to run the ball. You put your quarterback in these just can't win situations. He's getting beat half to death. He's out there with one hand trying to play a game against the number one defense in the NFL right now in every statistical category. But, oh, oh, it's fourth and two. Let's drop back in shotgun. Opening play of the game for them. Opening series for the New Orleans Saints. Official snap. You're in shotgun. And guess what? Negative five yards on that play. What are you doing? What are you doing? And you know what? The offense did have a successful drive. You know what they did on that drive? That they did in no other drive in this game. They ran. the ball and the next thing you know they end up scoring who would have thought who would have thought that huh well anyone with half a brain they would have thought about it which they did everybody has been saying everybody has been talking about it whether you watch football whether you are a casual viewer whether you're a commentator for the love of god Drew Brees was the commentator in this game. He was saying it. Everything Drew Brees was saying during the game, I literally said on that show that I got slings and arrows thrown at me. I wonder if Drew Brees getting those same slings and arrows that I received because everything he said, I'm sitting there like I was in church. Amen, pastor. Go ahead on, deacon. I was like, man, confirmation. Everything that he's saying, you're not going to win when your quarterback is sitting duck back there. If you refuse to run the ball, why are they running this play? Why is they doing it? I mean, Drew Brees was breaking it down. He broke it down ten times better than I ever could because he's Drew Brees. He really put the language to it that made more. Since, in football terms, I try to do it the layman way that everybody can understand, but, you know, we saw how that turned out. Either way. It all rounds about to the exact same conclusion. Kellen freaking Moore is not the answer. He is not. Now, that's not to be excused for the effort for these guys. I'm not saying Kellen Moore is the reason why these guys have zero energy, even if he doesn't inspire it in the players. As a man, as a football player, as a professional, you should. come out there with that anyway so i'm not gonna put all that on kellen moore but what i will put on kellen moore you're not trying to get it out of him you're not calling him out for not having it after the embarrassment that we saw monday night and to come out with that exact same energy who am i supposed to look at i mean honestly who am i supposed to look at Nobody gave the Saints a snowball's chance in this game. I felt the Saints could have won the game. Now, I picked Minnesota to win it, but at the same time, in the back of my head, I'm looking at Minnesota, who hasn't scored an offensive touchdown since week one. I'm trying to figure out how they actually are undefeated at this point. I'm looking at the defense that, yeah, the defense is number one. That's because they get... the opposing offense uncomfortable with their blitz packages and things of that nature because their defense isn't all that good saints for a good portion well for a small portion of this game exposed their defense the saints was moving the ball on the on uh minnesota like it wasn't nothing they actually looked like they were trying to win the game and it just went poof they only had one good drive in them. And if you really look back over the last five games of this season that's all the saints has ever gave given us one good drive one solid drive every game never a complete one a complete game i should say i'm just i am so done with this team bro i'm gonna make a bold statement here i kind of hinted to it but i was trying not to go that deep i was trying not to go that deep with this franchise But my God, I have to. I would rather Dennis Allen than Kellen Moore. Oh, Lord. That's blasphemy. Trust me, it took a while for me to get to that point, but I'm to that point. At least with Dennis Allen, I knew what type of team we were. I knew what type of team we were. I don't know what the Saints are. And I haven't known what the Saints have been since Kelly Moore got here. What are we? Are we a passing team? Are we a running team? Are we a defensive team? Are we a good special teams team? Nothing, because we're not good in any facet of the game. We don't run the ball good. Periodically, we can throw it good. And that's only when we get... desperate defense is spotty we can't stop the run we can't stop the pass a tight end just destroys this team this zone defense that brandon staley runs is completely ridiculous special teams my god can we can we please can we please spend the money and get a good kicker i mean what why can't we find a kicker it's amazing man for the past what four years we've been struggling to find a just just a competent field goal kicker punters and all that that's a whole nother issue that's a problem within itself but a place kicker we cannot find a place kicker to save our lives and literally it's come down to that in some situations Now, did that extra point change the dynamic of the game today? No, but it would have helped. You would have went up by one point instead of being tied going into the fourth quarter, but you still end up losing by 10 points anyway, but that's besides the point. That's besides the point. Man, I cannot, I can't believe that this team is not good at nothing. At nothing. kelly moore is this supposed offensive guru that's that was that's been his label since he was at dallas That was his label. He went to Philly, won the Super Bowl at Philly, and everybody thought, oh, oh, it's the second coming. Oh, we got Kelly Moore. He's going to call the plays. He's going to get this offense back to what it used to be. He got his quarterback, Tyler Shuck. Oh, my God. He got all these weapons to play with now with Alavi and Jordan Tyson and Devon Bailey, and you went and brought in Estime. You got all of these weapons at your disposal. And so you're like, man, he's about to go bananas on offense. This offense looks as pedestrian as it ever been. This looks no better than when Spencer Rattler was the quarterback. You remember that? You remember those days? Y'all remember? I know y'all remember it because y'all went so hard in the paint when he was out there not producing, not giving us nothing. and everybody oh oh oh spencer rattler he sucks oh they need to put in tyler shuck oh spencer rattler is the reason why we're not winning you remember those days y'all remember those comments yeah i know y'all remember it because i remember y'all were telling it to me and now all of a sudden the team looks just as bad if not worse i don't hear that no more i don't hear that victory all towards tyler shuck i don't hear that victory on towards nobody else why is that Can somebody explain to me why that is? The team looks the same, if not worse. The team has not improved in no shape, form, or fashion. Tyler Shuck went out there last year. He went on this winning streak when he beat lesser teams, sub-500 teams. That's why they look the way they look. That's why I said what I said before the start of the season. In case you didn't listen to the show, I implore you. to go back and listen to the shows because i'm not just coming up with this i'm not a prisoner of the moment i've been saying this for months for months so miss me with that if that's what y'all want to come with you can miss me with that the dude did that against lesser teams i my my thing was i want to see him do it against playoff caliber teams i want to see him do that against a Detroit. I want to see him do that against a Baltimore, against a Minnesota, against these quality teams. So far, not so good. Now, that doesn't mean I don't like Tyler Shuck. Tyler Shuck is a good quarterback. He's good, but Tyler Shuck has not improved. If you want to be honest, Tyler Shuck done degressed since last season. He looks worse. He's gotten worse. Why? Because he's relying on his talent. He's not relying on what the coaches taught him. He's not relying on the playbooks. He's not relying on the players around him. He's going off of his God-given ability to play quarterback. The little success that he has had this season is all because of Tyler Shuck. It's not because of Kelly Moore in his offense. I don't know what's it going to take for change to come. over there on airline but change needs to come now i'm not delusional i know kelly moore isn't going anywhere i'm not gonna call for his job i'm not saying fire him now do we deserve to be sure but i'm not saying that because i know better it took an act of congress to get rid of dennis allen and they still Mickey Loomis is still, right now, to this day, if you pulled him to the side right now and asked him, he would still be mad about that. He would still have Dennis Allen as the head coach of this team. So, I'm not expecting them to change regimes. It's too early. It's too early to do it. Because if you do it now, you're admitting that you failed. You're admitting that this guy ain't it. And nothing would shame them more than to... admit defeat. So they're not going to do that. But they need to do something. Because Saints fans are leaving out that dome. P.O.'d week after week after week. They left early today. They left out booing. They left out Monday night booing. Eventually, they're going to stop leaving out. They're just not going to come. And when it comes to that, now they're hitting your pockets. Now you want to make a drastic move. Look. These are three embarrassing losses. Three. The Raiders game was embarrassing because you had an 11-point lead going into the fourth quarter and you squandered. You came out on Monday night and just got gorilla stomped by your division rivals. Then you came into this game with a little, with a little hope. Vikings had nothing. Vikings was literally trying to give this game away. I couldn't tell you what the Vikings did other than the fact Kyler Murray, you know, scrambling around, made a few good throws. At one point, he was, I think he was 100% completion in the first half. He didn't throw an incompletion until maybe late in the first half or something like that. But he was, he was, we're talking about Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray. He looked, he looked like Peyton Manning back there. I was. I'm like, my God, are y'all going to hit this dude? I mean, just pinch him or something. It was a play back there, and Drew Brees called it out. He was like, man, anybody can sit back there for six seconds and make a throw. And that's what happened. He was back there for six, seven seconds just sitting back there. And you expect the cornerbacks to cover these guys. See, that's where these Saints fans are going to come in because I'm willing to bet you money that a lot of Saints fans you or so-called Saints fans, oh, man, oh, see, Kool-Aid, he can't cover. Oh, Quincy Riley can't cover. Who can cover anybody? Deion Sanders can't cover anybody for six seconds. Darrell Revis can't cover a wide receiver for six seconds straight. Come on, man. That is too much on that secondary. That is not the greatest of secondaries. But, my God, you've got to put pressure on the quarterback. I don't know, man. I just don't know what to say. I honestly don't know what to say other than this team is completely sorry. It's a sorry football team, and I don't see any end in sight. You think you're going to go up to New York next week and beat the Giants? It's not going to happen. And the Giants aren't that good. But you know what? The Giants fight hard. The Giants. the giants on top of their division right now with james winston that quarterback the one day oh he's not good enough to play here but he's better in you mean to tell me he's better in new york new york didn't have a problem with him and look at him look at him i'm still recording doing their game right now they're in overtime but they're in overtime against against a better team against uh washington uh i'm about to say the other name, Commanders. And so I don't know what the end result will be. Maybe I'll know by the time I finish this up. But it's besides the point. That's besides the point. They don't give up. This team gave up. This team gave up when Bijan Robertson broke that 59-yard touchdown. That took every fight out. From that moment on, I have yet to see any energy, any want to try to win. anything out of this team yeah we got a couple of players here or there that are trying to save face you know chase young he shows up you know every now and again uh yeah that's about it nobody else especially today nobody else and normally i would say chris olavi but it's not because chris olavi didn't fight chris olavi's hurt you know why chris olavi's hurt he was in the very end of that game last week. which he shouldn't have been same reason that tyler shuck is sitting there with one freaking hand and he shouldn't have been in that game at the end of that game and he ended up getting hurt once again another stupid decision by this stupid head coach look at him look at him yeah look at him today and you justifying those decisions by kellen moore you really justify oh give him time okay i gave him a week look at it look at look at what he did you don't have time you don't have time in the nfl you need to fix it whatever the problem is you fix it you don't continue doing what hasn't been working in hopes that it works this week that's not how the nfl works anyway let's get into the stats of this game i'm not gonna be here long i've been here long enough. We've been here 20 minutes. 20... freaking minutes and i ain't even got to the game i haven't even talked about because there's really nothing else to talk it's nothing to say about this game what what can we say saints they forced two turnovers they scored on defense so at home you got two turnovers that turned into points every point the saints scored was off of a turnover let that sink in because you take away the turnovers if if minnesota don't turn the ball over this is probably a blowout because the offense couldn't do diddly. Nothing. Nothing. And it's not because of the Vikings' stout defense. It wasn't because of that. It wasn't because of that. Yeah, they made it difficult at times because it is the number one defense in the league. All due respect. Respect to the Minnesota Vikings. I'm not taking nothing away from them. They came into the dome. They did their thing. Justin Jefferson, he made it a point. He was going to play today, one ankle and all. He was going to play today and play he did. He mustered up energy to do it. Why? He came home. He came home. His family was here to watch him play. He wanted to show up and show out, and he did. Saints, they honored Drew Brees today. You would think they would come up for that. Nope. They honored the whole city. on Monday night they should have came up for that they didn't this team has no fight in them there's no dog in them there is nothing special about this team nothing stats let's go stats people let's let's start with the leaders of the game passing leaders Tyler Shuck he was 16 for 25 96 Six yards. No touchdowns, two interceptions. Kyler Murray, on the other hand, he was 24 of 30, 229 yards in one touchdown today. Leading rusher for the New Orleans Saints today was Kendray Miller. 10 carries, 30 yards in one touchdown. Aaron Jones Sr. over there in Minnesota, 25 carries, 113 yards in a touchdown. Uh, receiving leading receiver for the saints was Chris Olave, four catches for 46 yards for the Minnesota Vikings. Of course it was Justin Jefferson, six catches for 79 yards in a touchdown. Uh, Carl Grandison got a sack and a half today. Andrew Van Grendel had a sack for the Minnesota Vikings. Uh, Justin Reed, he has six solo tackles, five tackles total. For the New Orleans Saints, he was the leader today. And for the Minnesota Vikings, Blake Cashman, he had five solo tackles, nine in total. Team stats today. Saints had nine first downs today to the Minnesota Vikings, 18. Half. They only can muster up half of the first downs Minnesota had today. Third down efficiency, Minnesota was nine for 18. Saints on third down. two for ten two for ten they were better on fourth they were two for three on fourth uh minnesota they didn't go for it on fourth they didn't have to uh total plays ran minnesota had 68 plays today saints 43 total yardage saints had 142 yards of offense today offensive guru and the minnesota Vikings head. 364 total yards today. By far their best offensive performance of the season. They've done nothing offensively all season long until today. It is not a shock. It shouldn't be a shock to anybody. Total drives, they had 11 total drives to the Saints. Nine yards per play. Saints, 3.3. Minnesota, 5.4. Saints, as a team, only had 87 yards passing today to Minnesota's 2-11. Rushing yardage, as a team, Saints had 55 rushing yards to Minnesota's 153. Red zone, Saints were 100% in the red zone. Believe it or not, people, they were one for one. They only got in the red zone once. They only got close to the red zone once. Minnesota, on the other hand, they were 50% today, two for four. Penalties, Saints, six penalties, 41 yards. Minnesota, four penalties for 30 yards. Both teams had two turnovers apiece. Well, no, I'm sorry. Minnesota had two turnovers. Saints had three in time of possession. My God. Minnesota had the ball. for 39 minutes and 37 seconds. Saints had the ball for 20 minutes and 23 seconds. This was what I would call a slaughter. But this was death by a thousand cuts by the Minnesota Vikings today. They really just chugged along. You know, Saints hung around, and eventually the Saints just couldn't overcome it. Couldn't overcome it. It's not so much that Minnesota was just this force of nature coming into the dome. No. Saints were in this game all the way up until the fourth quarter. Saints had opportunities and squandered it. I know it sounds like a broken record, huh? Yeah, we say this every week. We say this every single week. Saints had opportunities and squandered it. It's the exact same thing every single week. weak it is not going to change i'm sorry to inform all of you it's not going to change this is who they are this is who kellen moore is this is who brandon staley is and this is who mickey loomis is who just i don't know refuse to make any improvements on his team any real improvements on his team you see your team struggling you see your team needs help uh in the run game why not bring somebody in You see that your team is struggling defensively. You're losing linebackers like a toddler losing Legos. But what you do, you don't try to improve. You don't try to bring somebody else in. You don't try to help the team out. You see your kicker's been struggling. This kicker here been struggling since preseason, since you first signed him, and you haven't brought nobody else in. I don't get this team. I don't understand it. It's like they're cool. They're just all right. with mediocrity that's fine with them that is okay with them and they're not even mediocre they're horrible they're one in four they're dead last in the worst division in football let that sink in dead last in the worst division in football and you want me to be excited about that you want me to be optimistic about that you want me to be hopeful that they can turn it around How? How? You had four weeks. This was literally the easiest part of your schedule were these first five games. And you are one and four. Good luck the rest of the season. I don't see the Saints winning any other game going forward. I mean, just for just for chuckles and giggles. Let's go over the schedule right quick with the remaining schedule. for your new orleans saints here huh next week you got the giants in new york you you think you're gonna beat the giants i don't think so and you you go to uh paris you go to uh france for the first nfl game in france against the pittsburgh steelers do you are you confident that you're gonna beat the steelers i'm not you're going to buy that's probably the best week of football we're going to have this season in the bye week. After that, you got... the Cleveland Browns, who currently sit first on top of the AFC North. Do you feel confident that you can beat the Browns? I don't. Then you get into the division. You go back, you play the Panthers. I think it's in Carolina, if I'm not mistaken. Or it could be, no, I think that's in the Dome. I don't care. It could be in your backyard. It doesn't matter. You're losing that game. The Chicago Bears in Chicago. I mean, do I need to say the words? You lose. After that, Bengals. You lose. The Green Bay Packers. That's not promising. Play the Panthers again. You play Tampa. And then Arizona. Then you get the revenge game against Atlanta. And then you wrap it all up again with Tampa. How many wins you see and all that? I see maybe. maybe two and i'm being generous too this team will be picking in the top 10 again if not top five again this coming off season uh uh in the draft where do you start where do you start where i mean where do you go i don't care who you pick i don't care what you bring in here It's not going to help because, number one, you don't have the type of coaches that's going to coach up these young players. I'm looking at all these young players. I'm looking at the second-year players here, right? I'm not talking about the fresh young rookies like Bryce Lance and Braylon Brown and all that there. They're rookies. I'm talking about the second year. Who actually came in the door with a Kelly Moore? like a Christian Boyd or Tyler Shuck and, you know, so on and so forth. Those type of players that came in last season. Have you seen improvement from them players? I mean, from anyone from that class. Have you seen an improvement? Half of them not even here. So I don't feel confident in bringing in or drafting a player, a generational player, and bringing them here in New Orleans, And you... put a stop to you know that will plug up this this hole in the dam that is flooding water i don't see that happening because the coaching staff is not the type of coaching staff that develop players that's not their thing that's not what they're good at and i don't that you know this is really no shade on kellen moore because not all coaches are like that but if you're not like that you You need to put somebody on the staff that is like that. that will develop these players. So anyways, let's grade. I almost forgot to do the grades, which is pointless too, but I'm going to do it anyway in fairness. In case you don't know, this is how we do the grades. I grade every facet of the team, offense, defense, special teams, and coaching, round it up, and come up with an overall grade. of the Saints performance against the Minnesota Vikings in week five. Starting with the defense, not defense, but offense. The offense gets a D. The offense had one, one, uno, good drive in this entire game. One, one. And you know what took? The only reason that drive worked is because you went for it on fourth down twice. Because the drive really wasn't working. I mean, it was working, but it really could have stalled easily, easily, if you don't convert one of those two fourth downs. And so, other than that, the offense did absolutely nothing all game. They get a D, D minus, I'm sorry, D minus for today. The defense. gets a C-. Defense looks like they've looked every single week. Out of position. The zone defense is not working. The 3-4 defense is not working. There's nothing working here. The tight end always gets open. Star receiver always gets open. The run game, they can't stop a nosebleed when it comes to running the ball. And... The only saving grace are the two turnovers, one of which was a scooping score by Jonas Sanker. Aside from that, they looked horrible. They get a C-. Special teams gets a D. Even on kickoffs, it looked bad. The kickoff coverage looks bad for this team. The teams have great field position every time the Saints kick or punt the ball away. And then... what more can I say about our field goal kicker? He is this dude. He have a low trajectory whenever he kicks the ball first and foremost, and they look ugly, and they're the most blockable kicks you can ever kick because they're so low, and they look so bad coming off his foot. And, yeah, they get a D. Coaching, F, There's no sugarcoating it. F. This team looks unprepared on every single side of the ball. They look ill-prepared, no plan. They come in. They just try to. Throw stuff against the wall, see what stick every single week. You're not going to make me believe that they have scripted plays coming into a game. Because that opening drive, three and out, three and out. And this is every week, three and out. And they always look confused. No matter what the defense do, they look confused. They still can't get set. A legal formation, false starts, and all this here. But the coaching is all right now, right? But the coaching is good, right? No, man, that's enough. Overall, against the Minnesota Vikings today, the Saints get a letter grade of a D-. It's just, this is sad. It is sad. It's not, this wasn't, at least it wasn't embarrassing like it was Monday night. I'll give them that. They did improve on that. They took some of the embarrassment out the game. There was no embarrassment today, but now it's just sad. Now it's just ridiculous to watch. It's like you got to laugh to keep from crying. I laughed this entire game because I knew in the first quarter we lost this game. Even when the Saints tied it up, I knew we were going to lose because the Saints don't know how to close out games. They don't know how to hold on to a lead. They don't know how to score. This is a sad team, very sad. And, you know, I will say I am disappointed by the fact I did drink some of the Kool-Aid. I sipped it. I didn't drink the whole cup. I sipped some of the Kool-Aid thinking that the Saints possibly turned the corner this year, that they made the right moves, you know, that they actually learned. how to win you know just bouncing off of last season even though they weren't the most credible wins at the end of the year last year at least you can build off of those wins that's the whole point you can build off of they built nothing they actually tore stuff down it looks like they just look sad they look so bad out there on the field and what makes it worse this is at home you lost three straight home games you by double digits mind you anyway i i look y'all can say what y'all want all all you people that still are on this uh kelly moore train god bless you bro i'm not even mad at y'all i wasn't mad last week at the show i'm just listening to these people i'm like boy y'all delude yeah y'all just delusional yeah y'all are so hopeful that you just don't want to say the the hard thing out loud. I get it. Me personally, I don't care. I will say it out loud. This team sucks. This coach sucks. And until we are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, we're going to continue to suck. And so that's my opinion. Once again, in case you were living under a rock for the last few hours, the New Orleans Saints fell yet again by the score of 23-13. Losing to the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota is undefeated. Saints are 1-4. Next week, they travel to New York City to take on the Giants that just went final. And the Giants are... Oh, they lost. No, they tied. It ended in a tie. 27-27. So, take that with what you will. But anyways, I don't know, man. We'll see next week. Maybe they do something this week that will change my heart, change my mind, and show that this team is prepared to make the most drastic of drastic moves to save this season, to change the outcome of this inevitable losing season that is upon us right now. What can we do? Because here's the reality. In spite of the fact that the Saints are 1-4, they in the NFC South. And so hope is still there. They're still at 1-4, only two games behind first place. So it's still up in the air for them. But I'm not about to sit here and say, oh, we can still. Why would I want to? Why would I want this team? Would you be cheering for this team? The team that we just saw take the. feel against the Minnesota Vikings go in the playoffs and play anybody especially play a home playoff game for what what have they done at home did you seen how they look in that dome they look better on the road they look better in detroit they look better in baltimore why would i want that here why would i want to play this team looks horrible in the dome horrible with that being said maybe they go to new york and just wash the giants if they go to new york and win next week and then i mean beat the I'm going to know something. They need to burn down the Superdome and play somewhere else. They need to go and play at Butch Dewey Stadium or something. They'll go play at Ted Garmley Stadium somewhere because they cannot play in that Superdome. It is cursed. The Indian burial ground stuff, it must be true. This team is cursed when it comes to playing in that Superdome. Anyways, I would like to know what your thoughts of this. debacle of a game that took place uh in week five uh how you feeling about the saints right now are you mad are you upset or are you numb to it all i i'm i'm really like kind of numb i'm like i mean because i wouldn't expect them to win anyway but it's like my god man just give me effort huh where the dog in you man where is that y'all got embarrassed last week y'all should have came out swinging they should have came out with some fire like their hair was on fire today you know like man ain't nobody else coming in this dome and doing to us what atlanta did us we we're coming to play today nah not them not the saints anyway uh subscribe to the kbradionetwork.com website where you can be notified of new episodes dropping here as well this previews app. episodes that you can go back and listen to don't forget about youtube everybody subscribe to the kb radio network channel and like this video while you're there don't forget about the five stars the reviews and sharing this show if you're listening on apple podcast spotify iheart radio wherever you are currently listening to the who that's a podcast your podcast for the new orleans saints here on the kb radio network everybody thank you for joining me for So. this recap and reaction to the week five matchup between the new orleans saints and the minnesota vikings uh saints lose again check back in later this week as we preview the week six matchup between the saints and the giants and even though i can't stand the ground kelly moore and mickey loomis are walking on right now i'm Still gonna be screaming.
