Speaker #0Hello everyone and welcome to the concession stand here on the KB Radio Network. I am your host Kevin Reed and this is the review of the new slasher film, Scream 7. Which is, wait for it, wait for it, The Seventh. film in this franchise this film has a returning nev campbell as the star of this film and kevin williamson directs this film which he co-wrote and if you don't know who kevin williamson is shame on you he created scream he uh wrote the first two and i think the fourth one in this franchise. Of course, those were directed by the late, great Wes Craven but this go around he's in the director's chair as well and so when you think about that if you on outside looking in Nev Campbell she's returning you know she wasn't in Scream 6 and so she's back for Scream 7 you have the creator of this franchise directing and co-writing it we should be good we should be back on track with the Scream franchise well And I say back on track, it isn't like it went completely off the rails. I actually liked like Scream 5. I thought it was pretty good. I thought it was a good legacy sequel. Scream 6, it wasn't as good as 5, but decent. All these films were pretty decent. I didn't hate any Scream film, but that has changed. That has officially changed. this was one of the worst films i've ever seen not just worse screen films i've ever seen but worse film period this movie was so bad so bad i'm actually embarrassed to have sat there for two hours and ingested this this abomination of a movie i don't understand why they made it I don't understand how this got greenlit. Now, of course, Melissa Barrera, she's no longer a part of this franchise after some political stance that she took and the studio fired her and whatnot. And Jenna Ortega, she left the franchise in solidarity. And, you know, they decided to go a different way. So I know that this film was going to go in a different direction because. those two actresses who were the i guess you could say the the the nucleus of this new trilogy were gone so okay let's rehash some things from the past well i don't have a problem with that but the issue you might run into is the fact we had that in screen five we already rehashed the past that was the legacy sequel uh you had the return of nev campbell and uh courtney cox david arquette all that that was fine you know and you blended in this new generation perfect yeah i thought it was perfectly done but this movie they decide to really just dive into sydney prescott who was played by nev campbell they dove into her character and Look, we done been everywhere we can go with that character. There's no more juice in that orange. There's nothing else to squeeze there. We are seven movies deep. There is nothing to squeeze, but they tried, boy. Oh, my God, did they try. Now we're introduced to her daughter here in this film, and she had nothing to work with. She had absolutely nothing to work with. I don't know. I don't know if they were trying to set up that she was going to carry the torch going forward or what. But she was just there. There was nothing to that character worth cheering for. This movie, look, to be fair, he cheered for nobody. It was nobody worth cheering for in this movie. Listen, listen, listen. I know that... AI has kind of taken over the world. Skynet is running wild right now. You see them on social media with all those videos and pictures and whatnot. And it's being used a lot in a lot of filmmaking when it comes to screenwriting and whatnot. I finally believe that A.I. wrote this screenplay. There's no other explanation. I can't believe that Kevin Williamson wrote this screenplay. It's hard for me to wrap that around my head. For somebody who, A, wrote the first two and the fourth one. So that's three films in this franchise he wrote. I think he wrote the treatment for the third film. So these are characters that he created. These are characters in a world that he shaped and formed. So I'm confused on this film because it breaks every single rule, every single rule that was established by him in the first few films. It's like, what? What? And I talk about AI. AI plays a part in this film. I'm not going to spoil anything. But the element that they use in this film is so stupid and ridiculous. I don't even know how to review this film. Honestly, I'm sitting here and I don't know what to say. I'm so... I'm so godsmacked by this movie. My intelligence was insulted so bad. The only thing I took away from this movie was the fact that they showed the trailer for Scary Movie 6 before. That's the only thing that I can take away from this movie. It's so... Bad, you know, because normally if you see a good movie, at least for me, when I see a good movie, I forget about the trailers they played in front of it because I'm so in tuned with the movie that I'm watching that I paid to see. But in this case, all I could think about was Scary Movie 7 and I didn't even think that trailer was all that good. But that's what's sticking with me here. Now, now, were there some cool kills in it? Yeah. there were some decent kills in it but even that was it was ridiculous well you had to suspend you have to suspend disbelief for every movie you see but once again this movie is insulting your intelligence to a degree where you expect me to believe a 120 pound man can lift up a 220 another 220 pound man by the neck with one arm basically it's it's it's like it's it's like what am i watching is this jason vorhees or is this ghost face i don't know what i'm looking at here these are just normal human beings it is not there's no supernatural elements in this and then this movie has not one not two but three ghost face killers in it three two technically but it's three well yeah it's it's it's ridiculous it is ridiculous they did too much here they were trying to do too much and honestly i think they they had to pivot so hard they being the filmmakers in the studio had to pivot so hard after they made the decision to move on from Melissa Barrera's character and Jenna Ortega's character that they they basically just they had they made a date there was a release date and they had to stick that date and so they had to go out there and make a movie they had to put something out that's the only thing I can think of why this movie was made because it felt like it was rushed it felt like it was just thrown together It felt... like they didn't even have a script it just felt like they went out there and shot stuff okay that'll be a good idea stand in front of that you know and you know i i try to refrain i try to refrain from when i'm reviewing a movie i always wanted to be a filmmaker i always wanted to be a director to this day still want to be a director and i always try to refrain from saying These words. Man, I could have made a better movie than that because it's hard. Making movies is hard. And I don't want to disrespect the people who actually put blood, sweat and tears into making a film because that's an insult. Because quite honestly, I probably wouldn't. I'd probably make a movie 10 times worse. But I can say this with my whole chest. I would have made a better Scream 7 film. This movie was that bad. It was that bad. And I'm really blown away by it. I'm not mad, which is scary. I'm not mad that I watched the movie. I'm just amazed of how horrible it turned out. Scream 7. which is currently in theaters gets a letter grade of an f there's nothing redeemable about this movie even with a couple of cool kills i could care less about that it wasn't even they just threw that in and threw it just to say it was a serial killer movie or a slasher film other than that this movie had no substance at all some of the dumbest decisions made by uh uh our lead girl I hope. You know, our final girls, just dumb decisions. We've seen done dumb decisions. You know, when the killer is chasing the girl in the house and she runs up the stairs instead of going out the front door. You know, those stupid kind of decisions. That looks like a genius move compared to some of the stuff I've seen in this movie. I can't. It is unbelievable. If you haven't seen the movie, you will. Your mind would explode by some of this stuff. that happens in this film there's a fine line between not taking yourself seriously and not caring this movie felt like everybody involved just did not care it was a paycheck that's all i could that's all i could think of god god god help them if they actually were putting forth some a plus effort because nah that ain't it But that's just one man's opinion.
