Description

This week, I’m excited to share an episode I recorded a few months ago in Lausanne when I attended the Athletissima Diamond League meet.

I’m especially proud of this one because I got to sit down with three of the top five American pole vaulters of all time: Jeff Hartwig (the first American to clear 6 meters, with a personal best of 6.03m), Sam Kendricks (two-time world champion and silver medalist at the Paris Olympics, with a PB of 6.06m), and Chris Nilsen (Tokyo Olympic silver medalist and U.S. indoor record holder with 6.05m). Unfortunately, Chris couldn’t stay for the whole conversation.

I really wanted us to have an informal, open conversation about pole vaulting and life as elite athletes. There’s so much to unpack from this conversation that I won’t spoil it here—just dive in and discover it for yourself. For some context: Jeff is now an agent working with some of the world’s best pole vaulters and also coaches them during competitions.

You’re currently listening to the original episode in English, but for anyone who feels more comfortable in French, there’s also a dubbed version available in the podcast feed.

Enjoy!
