When Kirk was a young man his parents told him to “Take advantage of every opportunity.” And boy did he take that advice to heart, turning his science degree into work in remote communities in Fiji and Hawaii, teaching in and leading educational institutions, helping to build Māori and Pasifika Trades Training: Auckland, and over a decade as a trustee at the Auckland Foundation.
