In this exclusive NAB Show 2025 interview, Frédéric Sanuy from Activo® speaks with Geoffrey from Nikon about the company's exciting developments in the video space and their powerful collaborations with RED and MRMC.
The interview reveals how Nikon has transformed their NAB presence by joining forces with RED Digital Cinema and MRMC (Mark Roberts Motion Control) to create a comprehensive ecosystem for video professionals.
Geoff explains how each company brings unique strengths: Nikon with their mirrorless cameras and lenses, RED with their cinema solutions, and MRMC with robotic broadcast technology. This collaboration is yielding tangible results just one year after Nikon's acquisition of RED. Engineers from both companies are now working together on color science, with Nikon cameras featuring LUTs designed with RED to match their color spaces, enabling seamless multi-camera production environments.
Additionally, RED's Komodo X and new Raptor X cameras now support Nikon's Z mount, providing improved autofocus, better control, and expanded lens options. The interview also showcases Nikon's new dedicated video lens, the 28-135mm f/4 PZ (Power Zoom) lens, designed as a versatile one-lens solution for video creators.
Geoff notes that NAB 2025 has been extremely successful for Nikon, with visitors recognizing the company as a serious player in the video space with impressive hardware, optics, and strategic partnerships that position them for continued growth in this sector.
