Meet Lydia Tham, Deputy Marketing and Public Affairs Manager at Tema Port and General Secretary of the Ghana chapter of the Network of Professional Women in the Maritime and Port Sectors for West and Central Africa. Entering the maritime industry almost by accident through national service, she shares how she overcame male colleagues reluctant to share knowledge, taught herself coded shipping timesheets to earn her place, and rose from operations to marketing through education and networking. She also speaks about mentoring the next generation of women in the sector. Her advice to young women considering a maritime career: get educated, connect with professionals already in the field, and use the opportunity, you will never regret it.
