Description
Helena Stormanns' story is a remarkable one. She belongs to a generation of horsemen and horsewomen who learned their craft through hard work, observation, and years of experience. Before she ever rode ponies, she was mucking out stables at her local riding school. Before owning her first competition horse, she was riding ponies that belonged to other people.
After competing at the highest level for many years—including appearances in Grand Prix classes and at the World Championships—Helena chose a different path. Rather than pursuing her own competitive ambitions, she dedicated herself to helping the next generation of riders reach theirs.
Today, she is one of those exceptional coaches whose influence extends far beyond the arena. She has guided—and continues to guide—some of the sport's finest riders, including Jessica Springsteen, Michael Duffy, Petronella Andersson, and, more recently, the incredibly talented Nina Mallevaey.
What struck us most throughout this conversation was not only Helena's depth of knowledge, but also her humility, her generosity, and the clarity with which she speaks about horses, riders, and the sport itself.
We left this interview inspired, and we truly hope you will too.
