🔥 I can't even tell you the first time I saw Meredith in the ring. It was probably in Geneva or Lyon, at one of those Grand Prix events that I attended tirelessly, year after year. It must have been in the mid-2000s, 2004, 2005 perhaps.
✨ Meredith was one of the best riders in the world, and I mean riders, not female riders, because in 2004, she was simply number one in the world. She is still today the first and only woman to have achieved this ranking. So, of course, for young girls like me at the time, she was an inspiration, a role model, an icon. She proved that in this sport, a woman can try anything and win everything.
💬 And if Meredith Michaels Beerbaum inspired a whole generation of female riders (and probably male riders too), it's not just because of her results, but also because of her charisma, her determination, her courage, and her competitive spirit. You only have to watch her trot into the arena to understand that nothing comes for free, and that it takes guts, hard work, and broad shoulders to reach 5* level or just to ride a horse like Shutterfly.
We met Meredith Michaels Beerbaum in Geneva last December and asked her all the questions we had dreamed of asking her when, as teenagers, we admired her daring victories and committed riding from the stands 🔊.
