“Terrasses du Larzac: a new appellation is born!” is the third in a series of podcasts exploring the Terrasses du Larzac Protected Designation of Origin (PDO / AOP).

The origins of our appellation date back to the mid-1990s. Its name first appeared on bottles as a sub-appellation of the Coteaux du Languedoc AOC in 2004. It was recognised in 2014 as an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in its own right – a record-breaking and exemplary journey.

This podcast looks back at the appellation’s recent collective history and how it is rooted in the longer history of winegrowing in Languedoc.

Sébastien Fillon (Le Clos du Serres), President of the Terrasses du Larzac AOC union since 2019, discusses this history at length. His account is further illuminated by contributions from other winegrowers within the appellation, who add to his narrative.
