While still falling into some of the tropes of the EDM-tinged indie pop of it's time, In The Cards has enough personality and big enough hooks to stand above most of the artists in that crowd. That's right we're back baby. After a long hiatus we're finally covering the long promised Underneath by Code Orange. It's hard to understate how much of a splash this made in the metalcore and hardcore scenes when this album was first released. From the lead-up and promo, to what was probably the first lockdown-era live streamed concert for the release, to the subsequent "This band was the future of metal!" hype train that follows, I was on board 100% the entire time. It's also hard to understate how hard Code Orange has fumbled every subsequent creative decision since the release of this album and you better believe we talk about all of it.
