When the Doctor is Diagnosed with Cancer with Dr. Carline Crevecoeur

Dr. Carline Crevecoeur is a Haitian-American retired board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Crevecoeur attended St. John’s University as an undergraduate, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry. She received her medical degree from Downstate Medical School, where she went on to complete her obstetric and gynecological training. Her medical concentration was in perinatology, where she researched lung development in premature infants. She also worked extensively with breast cancer patients and victims of sexual violence. After 20 years of medical service in New York and Pennsylvania, Dr. Crevecoeur gave up her career to raise and homeschool her five children. She nonetheless kept up with her medical education, and also volunteered at Centre Volunteers in Medicine as an obstetrician and gynecologist. Although she had planned to return to her beloved profession after her children were grown, a cancer diagnosis in 2012 sidelined her plans and forced her to retire.
