Using large language models to extract case report data and trends in readability of breast pathology reports... These were two topics examined in the top five junior member abstracts, showcased at last year's CAP annual meeting. Abstract submissions for the CAP26 abstract program are now being accepted through March 4th. Don't miss this opportunity to present your research to colleagues Submit your abstracts today. Do you know a CAP member whose exceptional contributions need to shine? This is the time to recognize individuals whose dedication strengthens, inspires and advances pathology. Whether it's a colleague who consistently mentors others, a team that drives innovation, or someone whose efforts often fly under the radar, your nomination for the Meritorious Service Award can make a lasting impact. The deadline for nominations is March 16th. Honorees will be invited to accept their awards in person at CAP26. CAP On Demand provides a personalized learning experience exclusively for CAP members and Dr. Joel Moncur, chair of the CAP's Council of Scientific Affairs, explained the need for this new Netflix-style educational content. Quote, "Pathologists are always looking for great educational content. They have to embrace both the fundamentals of the practice of pathology and the frontiers of future practice." With a recent addition of over 30 new educational videos, CAP On Demand now offers over 200 videos for members to watch when they're looking for a flexible way to add learning into their busy schedules. What happens when pathologists get the opportunity to blend quality family time with their continued medical education? Dr. Jordan Reynolds is Director of Cytology and Professor of Pathology at Mayo Clinic, Florida. He recalls his experience last year at the CAP's Pathology on the Coast.
"This is my 15th year out of residency, so I'm a lifelong learner. I always look for these opportunities. I thought they did a good job with the time management. They had the heavy-duty curriculum. coursework in the mornings and the social events and free time in the afternoon, which allowed us to have a nice balance of education and fun with the family."
And while the time spent on the beach and in the resort with his family was essential, so were the courses he attended.
"I remember the GYN courses in particular. That's one of my weaker areas. I spent a lot of time paying attention closely to what they were saying. It was nice to be in the room with other General anatomic pathologist who also asked intelligent questions about some of the issues that I was also struggling with."
Best of all, Dr. Reynolds was able to apply what he learned.
"I think the most interesting part was because... It was not such a large audience. I mean, I don't know the exact number. We were able to ask questions. A lot of the questions that the pathologists asked were questions that most of us had or sometimes they'd offer a comment or a tip."
And while Dr. Reynolds can't make it to this year's program, he's looking forward to the next one. Don't miss out on your opportunity to join. Register now to be part of this summer's Pathology in the Park, taking place at Disney's Boardwalk Inn, July 15th to 17th. That's all for today. Be sure to watch your inbox for more news like this in the CAP's Advocacy Newsletter every Tuesday and our Weekly Edition Newsletter every Thursday. We'll be back tomorrow at 5 a.m. Eastern Time for another episode of The Daily Edition. I'm Dafna Farkas. Have a great day.
