Description
How much has the medical community changed when it comes to plant-based nutrition?
On this episode of the Plant Based Coaches Podcast, we welcome back Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), to discuss the growing acceptance of plant-based nutrition among healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Dr. Barnard shares his perspective on how attitudes toward nutrition have evolved over the years, why more physicians are beginning to embrace lifestyle medicine, and the impact this shift is having on patient care.
We also tackle one of the most common nutrition questions: How much protein do we really need? Dr. Barnard separates fact from fiction and explains why many people are consuming far more protein than necessary.
The conversation then turns to GLP-1 weight-loss medications, including when these drugs may be appropriate, their potential risks and limitations, and why nutrition and lifestyle changes should remain the foundation of long-term health.
Finally, Dr. Barnard previews the upcoming International Conference on Nutrition in Medicine, taking place in Washington, D.C., from August 13–15, where leading physicians and researchers will present the latest evidence on nutrition and disease prevention.
