Linda Middlesworth, an 81-year-old vegan advocate, has been plant-based for 37 years, overcoming cancer, heart disease, and obesity. She is the Organizer of the Sacramento Vegan Society, which has grown to 5,300 members, and actively hosts events such as Go Healthy LIVE, Get Healthy Sacramento, and Go Compassionate LIVE, featuring experts in health, animal advocacy, and sustainability. With a 25-year career in graphic design, she now focuses on vegan mentorship through VeganMentor.com and serves as a certified Food for Life nutrition and cooking instructor with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Additionally, she co-owns v-dog.com, a vegan dog food company she launched with her late husband, David, in 2005. Linda is also a certified personal trainer and aerobics instructor, staying active in fitness and animal rights movements with organizations like PETA and Animal Save Movement.
Linda holds a B.A. in German Language and Literature from Sacramento State University and various health and nutrition certifications, including from Cornell University and Dr. John McDougall’s Starch Solution Program. She serves on the board of the Center for Nutritional Studies, is an affiliate member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and leads multiple advocacy groups in Sacramento. Recognized for her dedication, she has received numerous awards, including PETA’s Hero to Animals Award, the Plant-Based Hero Award from Get Healthy LA, and the Outstanding Vegan Mentor award from Social Compassion in Legislation. Her work continues to inspire others to embrace a compassionate and health-focused lifestyle.
