Description
This week, the rule was not written in a text. It was written in a number.
On Thursday, one lab published three measurements of itself. The first says how much of its own research is now led by its model. The number is striking, and it is six months old.
The same day, a researcher at a rival lab explained why our ability to read these systems is degrading.
And in a Chinese report published three days after the model it describes, fifty-six engineers recount building an artificial intelligence with the help of that same artificial intelligence.
Three serious publications, honest about their limits. And in all three, the one measuring is the one being measured.
A British commission in 1714 already had this problem.
One number sits underneath all the others, and nobody mentioned it.
Three signals. One thread. One questionβ¦
