Hello and we are delighted to welcome you back. Supplies, supplies. Gazza and Sophie are back in the saddle with Hog House of Gossip bringing you your weekly dose of pop culture nourishment. I can't believe I remembered that. We are back after a six month hiatus. My fabulous co-host Gazza went off on maternity leave, which we will be talking about any moment. Super excited to be back. Tons to discuss. So much has changed, but then again, nothing at all. Gazza, how are you?
- Speaker #1
What an intro I'm so happy to be back.
- Speaker #0
Me too.
- Speaker #1
It feels like same, same, but different.
- Speaker #0
Totally.
- Speaker #1
Because a lot has changed, but there's so many moments over the last six months that I was like, I wish we were doing Hogg. But look, we're back at our trough.
- Speaker #0
I think it's nice for the listeners to know, though, that we still did discuss it privately.
- Speaker #1
Yes. Oh, there was endless voice notes.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, like a lot of chatting.
- Speaker #1
Yeah. I feel like any time we take a break, there's always a big scandal. So we're going to go through some of them.
- Speaker #0
And we're going to talk about the bits that we're excited to talk about. And then other bits we're just not going to reference. We're only giving you the best.
- Speaker #1
Gram-de-la-gram.
- Speaker #0
We are going to do Slide Your Door and Your Test, which obviously... I'm gonna guess what Clara's is for her J'adore but I'll hand it over to Pastor Gaz, hit us off.
- Speaker #1
So my J'adore has to be our little baby Hughie. Yes He arrived six months ago to this very day and he is the cutest little bambino ever. He arrived in the delivery ward or suite or whatever ward to Celine Dion's I'm Alive. which was a moment that the people in the surgery were like what so it was great and yeah he's just been the sweetest little treasure like we're so lucky he just loves giggling he's really into rolling around at the moment we're eating he
- Speaker #0
had chickpeas for the first time this morning so it's been like a big day oh my god his first set of chickpeas what an elegant fellow i know motherhood has been like such a journey.
- Speaker #1
Any... Mom's out there. I feel you. I'm with you. It's quite a reckoning down to every single cell, but it is an incredible thing. It's a hard thing to explain, but he's just the sweetest little guy. He's just a hoot to be around. We do swimming. He's super into swimming at the moment, but nothing kind of phases him. My dad described him as something that he's already been here. He's a very old soul.
- Speaker #0
A hundred percent.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
It's shaman energy. I'm gonna have to interrupt you because I'm not a huge kid person because I'm the youngest I don't want to go out singling children but Huey is a magical force oh yes he is perfect the second I met him something connected he is the best fella going he is so happy to be here he's just chilling smiling all he wants to do is hang out yeah and just kind of like chill with his little paw near his mouth he's just he's just chilling out i i keep telling people about him because i'm like this fella is exquisite he is particularly delicious i'm so sad people haven't met him because i know he's the best fella
- Speaker #1
and he's so happy and he looks just like gazzer he does yeah poor mick didn't didn't get a look in really but whatever oh well um oh no yeah he's so it's mad i wish they change as well but his heart has stayed the same and he's just uh yeah just he's just like a good hang he's just happy to be here i find the things the whole thing so surreal like we created this person who's now here forever like that whole stuff really gets me
- Speaker #0
And like the fascination with him. I'm like, you know, when people have multiple children, I'm like, God, the fascination of a baby. Yeah. Like three times over must be nuts.
- Speaker #1
Ash, my friend said, like, your love just multiplies. Like it's just, it gets bigger and bigger and bigger. And I was like, wow. But yeah, I don't know. I can't really describe it, but it's amazing. And we're so lucky that he's the best. And he's just, yeah, such a cutester.
- Speaker #0
And you've taken to it like a duck to water.
- Speaker #1
Oh, thank you. Really, I feel like my eyes are like.
- Speaker #0
tiny little peas no you just like you didn't really know you were pregnant you just sort of glided appeared like you glided through obviously it's not like most comfortable at times but you just couldn't really tell and then your like calmness and stuff is like in in
- Speaker #1
shaman junior oh thank you yeah it's mad but then i feel like i've never been more anxious now since but I guess that's like intrusive thoughts and whatever.
- Speaker #0
Oh, well, I think about the fact that like if I had a baby and then like thinking about them going out or something without me.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
How do people sleep?
- Speaker #1
I know. Like I did a girl's trip, what, a few weeks ago when it was the first time being away from Huey for like a night, two nights. And it was, yeah, it was a weird experience. I just felt like I lost a limb or something. It's unusual.
- Speaker #0
Yeah. Sort of where is my hand?
- Speaker #1
Yeah. It's crazy. But I made a point of like having zero baggage because I was like, The last time I was in an airport, we had like seven suitcases, a buggy, a car seat, a bouncer. It was like so much.
- Speaker #0
It's not slimline travel, is it? No,
- Speaker #1
it's a lot. And we did a lot of car... We spent the summer in Ireland, which is so nice to be a family. And it was just a lot of driving long distances and babies in cars. No bueno. But once he got there, he loved it. Yeah. And we had Sister Hannah's wedding as well. It's been a great summer.
- Speaker #0
I was going to say Sister Hannah's wedding. He wore a tuxedo to it. he looks River Island guys it was very cute it was a tuxedo an all in one yeah we should give Sister Hannah a shout out because we've been talking about Huey for a while yeah Sister Hannah her wedding was so good oh sorry and my and Sister Rachel and Sister Rachel two weddings two
- Speaker #1
weddings and a child in six months it's crazy how quickly time can change things no isn't it how much change you I'll try that again. How much time?
- Speaker #0
Thus has passed.
- Speaker #1
How quickly things can change in such a little time. Thank you. There we go.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, I wonder what's going to happen for me and Sister Sophie.
- Speaker #1
Guys, give it six months, see what happens.
- Speaker #0
Oh, I will. Don't you worry. Super excited. Now, moving on. After the delicious chat on Huey, that was your amazing news. Over the last six months, Gazza. I had some things I wanted to say to you.
- Speaker #1
Please.
- Speaker #0
We don't have enough time or breath to discuss each topic, but I almost just want to say them out loud to you to know I was thinking about this when we were on our hiatus.
- Speaker #1
I can't wait. And I don't know this list, so I'm very excited.
- Speaker #0
So the World Cup, I fell in love, I would say, with football and the men involved. Hakimi on the Morocco team is delicious. I think he's in a bit of legal trouble, but just everyone Google him. Whoa. Desiree Doué is so hot. He's on the Paris PSG, but then he also played for France. Was it France or Morocco? So hot. So like a lot of my Instagram now is a lot of these footballers. Who would have thunk?
- Speaker #1
Who would have thunk you'd change sports? But what about that? Wasn't there the Nigerian guy from the Nigerian team and everyone was talking about him?
- Speaker #0
Yeah, I mean, I didn't. I kind of heard about... I heard about it but I didn't get involved yeah these were sort of natural these were natural crushes so hot Desiree Duey oh my god he is so hot Desiree Duey he's like 21 yeah imagine me with a Desiree oh that's a bit of you he is so hot ladies great name Sophie Duey I would change my name partially for that yeah Oh my God, Sophie Lyons, do it. There's also a little brother of one of the, does he play for Spain? Laminia Mal, he's some, I sound so professional. He plays for Spain, but he has this little brother called Kane. He is a little fella. He's like three or four. He is so cute. Oh my God, he goes everywhere. He's such little fella. He's on my timeline a lot. I encourage you all to look him up. He's a sassy three-year-old.
- Speaker #1
Oh, sorry. Yes, I saw him. He is so funny.
- Speaker #0
Orti put him on something as well and he was giving his brother a kiss.
- Speaker #1
Oh, he's so cute.
- Speaker #0
He's such a little chunk. Yeah, adoring.
- Speaker #1
Loved, loved, loved him.
- Speaker #0
Also, just sort of general football locker room chanting I got quite into.
- Speaker #1
Oh.
- Speaker #0
Just sort of feeling that like, like I could get into football after the World Cup. I always feel like that, but just there was a particular... Fever. ...sexual fever this summer. And it was really hot. Then the Tom Holland saturation. I don't care. You don't care. Can we stop talking about him?
- Speaker #1
You're telling the Spider-Man story again? Like, what's there more to say?
- Speaker #0
We don't care. He gets too much coverage for someone who's just in Spider-Man.
- Speaker #1
He's just a little pipsqueak.
- Speaker #0
He's such a pipsqueak and I don't care.
- Speaker #1
I don't care. What was him and Zendaya were in like two movies or she was in loads of things. Although I think she managed the saturation quite well but then he was in the Odyssey and in the Spider-Man. They were all coming at the same time.
- Speaker #0
But why was he in the Odyssey? He's Spider-Man like.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
I just think there's a bit of nepotism slash partner.
- Speaker #1
She's pulling some strings.
- Speaker #0
We don't want to talk about our relationship. We might have gotten married. Like just stop.
- Speaker #1
I hate that. That must have been going on when we were finishing up.
- Speaker #0
It was. We've spoken about it, but it just kept annoying me the whole time over the summer. Don't care. Go home, Roger.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
James Bond casting. Stop talking about it. No one's actioning anything. Enough.
- Speaker #1
Enough. Did you see they've actually announced three of the four shortlisted people today?
- Speaker #0
Clara, they've been doing that for 10 years.
- Speaker #1
I know. But do you know what? An interesting story is James Bond is trademarked. the same way like Harry Potter is. So whoever owns, Amazon owns James Bond now, but you have to keep the trademark alive or else then other people can start picking at your trademark and doing like, so this one guy in Dubai was like, I'm going to do a James Bond themed restaurant because you haven't released a movie in like five or six years or whatever.
- Speaker #0
Roger.
- Speaker #1
So then that spurred them on to start actually picking someone.
- Speaker #0
But they've been effing around for years.
- Speaker #1
But like, What more is there to say? Like, it's so campy. Mick has a great idea, and I think this is good, that they should, the story should go back to, like, the 60s and the, like, origin bond story. Not keep trying to tell the same story over and over again and have all the bells and whistles of cars and stuff. I don't know.
- Speaker #0
That is a good suggestion from Samantha Jones.
- Speaker #1
Yeah. Because, you know,
- Speaker #0
they're doing a prequel to Ocean's Eleven.
- Speaker #1
You see, people want the origin. Like, if you're not going to come up with new IP and just keep going back over the same stuff, like... That's be a little original.
- Speaker #0
I'm just sick of the chat. I'm over it. Like just less talk, more action, ladies.
- Speaker #1
But who would want it? It's like 10 years. You can't do any other films. You have to be at the peak of your physical health constantly.
- Speaker #0
They should give it to your man. He's so hot as well. Damn Sin Idris. I feel I'm kind of showing a pattern here.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, you are.
- Speaker #0
Across my taste of men.
- Speaker #1
There is actually a great show on Amazon called Bait. Riz Ahmed's show. And it's about him as a Muslim Londoner actor trying to make it and he's auditioning for Bond. Oh,
- Speaker #0
that sounds fun.
- Speaker #1
It's very funny. And it's only half an hour episodes and he goes on a bit of a journey and he's kind of losing his mind because you're trying to make it as an actor. And then he kind of spoofs his way into auditions and stuff. It's really good.
- Speaker #0
That sounds great.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
I also started watching Younger.
- Speaker #1
Is that the Hilary Duff one? Oh, wow. Nostalgia.
- Speaker #0
It's excellent.
- Speaker #1
Everyone keeps saying it to me to watch it.
- Speaker #0
Rachel kept saying it to me.
- Speaker #1
I feel like I don't watch any TV anymore.
- Speaker #0
I don't have any time.
- Speaker #1
I twitch. Like, because when Hughie goes to bed, I'm like, literally get through one episode of Traitors and I'm like, oh my God, it's at the time, it's 20 past nine, which is so something I never would say.
- Speaker #0
I do that and I don't have a child. I'm like, 20 past nine, Jesus. better start moving god okay when people say i'm gonna go train when they're going to the gym shut up shut up i said that exact sentence over the summer it is so what are you training for annoying i was on a date with a guy and he was like oh what do you usually train and i was like you mean what do i do when i go to the gym and he was like it's workout shut up you're not training for anything unless it's a high rocks
- Speaker #1
100% or like a marathon or an Ironman or I don't know any like a 5k.
- Speaker #0
Yeah totally.
- Speaker #1
But it's when you're like oh yeah I'm just going training.
- Speaker #0
Gotta go train. Shut up.
- Speaker #1
Shut up.
- Speaker #0
This could open a huge can of worms.
- Speaker #1
Okay.
- Speaker #0
Actually sorry I'll give you one more and then the last one is the can of worms.
- Speaker #1
Okay.
- Speaker #0
I think it's really icky when people tell me how many weddings they have this year.
- Speaker #1
Interesting. Why is it?
- Speaker #0
We have 17 weddings. I'm like okay. You don't have to go to them if you don't want to, stop telling me.
- Speaker #1
Oh, there is those like three, what, two or three years where you do have like 10 a year.
- Speaker #0
We've all been there, but I'm not telling you. We've 14, 17 weddings this year.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, three in a row, all abroad.
- Speaker #0
Someone said this to me and I was like, oh, well, sure, you don't have to go to all your man's ones, like I said, and your boyfriend's or whatever. Yeah,
- Speaker #1
true.
- Speaker #0
It was a disillusionment. I'm like, well, then stop talking about it. And then to kick it into hard drive.
- Speaker #1
Okay.
- Speaker #0
Someone said this to me and at the time it didn't really ring in my ear and then I think I was like it was over the weekend or something and I go oh my god.
- Speaker #1
Yeah.
- Speaker #0
They have a theory men aren't funny.
- Speaker #1
Men aren't funny.
- Speaker #0
Let's just sit with that for a moment. How many men do you know that are hilarious versus women?
- Speaker #1
I don't know. I talk to women way more, so I probably think women are funnier. But I do think men are funny.
- Speaker #0
I'm posing the question.
- Speaker #1
That's a real humdinger.
- Speaker #0
All the dates I go on, all the people I meet, I'm not meeting any funny men.
- Speaker #1
No.
- Speaker #0
And I know a lot of funny gals.
- Speaker #1
And you know that thing where you're like, I'm on a date and you're like, he was okay, but I had a great time. It's like, is it because I'm the great time and I'm funny?
- Speaker #0
I'm the common denominator.
- Speaker #1
And I do think whatever funny men are there, they get gobbled up like pretty quickly.
- Speaker #0
But as in whatever, not even about choosing a partner,
- Speaker #1
like aren't men funny? Wow.
- Speaker #0
I feel like some of our loyal listeners will write in about this because yes, it is a controversial.
- Speaker #1
It's a controversial thing. It reminds me of that other thing of like men shouldn't have Instagram.
- Speaker #0
I hate when men are active on Instagram.
- Speaker #1
Yeah,
- Speaker #0
yeah.
- Speaker #1
It's icky. It's so weird, isn't it? It kind of makes sense though.
- Speaker #0
Totally. It's not appropriate.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, but I don't, I can't explain it. Like, I don't know why.
- Speaker #0
I can't. It's not, it's not appropriate. Makes me uncomfortable.
- Speaker #1
Everyone loves to laugh though, but it's like, are they funny?
- Speaker #0
I love to laugh, but don't find a lot of guys making me laugh. But I think it's something that I'll ask you to sit with for a week.
- Speaker #1
We can come back next week and I'll be like, oh my God, I never noticed. I'm the funny one.
- Speaker #0
Well, yeah. I have dozens more, but they're my final list. And I'm really glad I could say it out loud.
- Speaker #1
That's profound, that last one.
- Speaker #0
Isn't it? And it's true.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, it's kind of true.
- Speaker #0
What men try to... It's so true.
- Speaker #1
I do have a few funny men friends, but like...
- Speaker #0
No, but not to say...
- Speaker #1
There's more funny women ones.
- Speaker #0
Correct.
- Speaker #1
The ratios...
- Speaker #0
Like as a group.
- Speaker #1
There's definitely more funny women.
- Speaker #0
I won't say how many dates I've been on this year, but it's a good few.
- Speaker #1
We're in the double digits. Drip on.
- Speaker #0
We're pretty high in the double digits. And not one of them has made me laugh.
- Speaker #1
No. Then you know.
- Speaker #0
But that's just a pool. Do you know what I mean? That's like a population pool. Not to say they weren't good dates, but I'm just saying as a people. Let's think about this, ladies. I love men. Yes.
- Speaker #1
We love men.
- Speaker #0
It's not about hating men. I'm just saying as a group.
- Speaker #1
Women are funnier.
- Speaker #0
I pose the question.
- Speaker #1
Do you think that's because, you know, if you have a really gorgeous person, man or woman, and then they kind of have a shit personality because they've never had to work at their personality because they're just so gorgeous and doors just open for them. I think there's something to do with that of like women are more self-conscious. So they're more aware of being like liked socially. And through that is funniness. I don't know. It's a humdinger.
- Speaker #0
I know. I'm really looking forward to hearing your feedback. Okay, now into the main portion, which is the celeb-specific part. We have to talk about Harry and Meghan and their cosplaying at being royal. I open up the floor.
- Speaker #1
I just, I don't know. It's the doing, the throwing. Like, are you not exhausted? Like, saying all these statements and then immediately going back on them. Like, it's just... Beyond. Like, I was so surprised to hear it because like on a personal note of like, I didn't watch their Netflix documentary. Me neither. On Leaving the Royals because I spent so much time giving out about them. I thought it was hypocritical of me to watch. Similar to the David Beckham documentary. But I've seen clips of it at the end and they're like, America, it's our saviour. This is our new chapter and blah, And it's like, this is our happy ending. And now they're coming back going. oh no that wasn't a happy ending we want to come back and i'd say they got to america thinking that it was this like utopia they pissed off a load of industry insiders at like spotify called them grifters the netflix deal falls through her as ever show doesn't do great there was something like you know when they were welcomed in like by the american elites and like they were with the obamas and stuff like that they're not really hanging out or no one's mentioning them the last party they went to was that Chris Jenner 70th kind of that we know of. And also, and then they get all those photos deleted. So maybe they pissed off the Kardashians. Kardashians are like, oh, fuck this. So I feel like they hung around for long enough for people to like not really like them. And then they're like, let's go back. Marina Hyde had an interesting theory that I want to run by. She said, you go on this new adventure, but nobody wants your content. Nobody wants that polo show he did. Nobody wants, as ever, no one wants that stuff. Everybody just wants your original story about the Royals. But the problem is everyone's sick of that original story because it's like you're just retelling the same story over and over again. So then they're almost like trying to create a sequel to the original. So she compares it to like Home Alone or Speed. You have this amazing blockbuster. It's like an unquenchable thirst so that people just want more and more and more. But then people are kind of sick of it now. So what are they doing? They're, by moving home, they're recreating the same setup, the toxic press, trouble with the in-laws. you know family feuds and then like Harry's constantly going on about how oh I'm such a relatable queen like you know my dad's sick and I've got family problems like everyone so they're coming back to try and recreate the original
- Speaker #0
is her theory what do you think about that yeah i don't disagree i think just the whole thing blew up in their face and i'm so embarrassed for them you were like no i'm out of here off i go and you will never see me again and they're like we're bad like it's just so embarrassing oh yeah and they've no humility over it no it's none of this like you know what it's not what we thought it was and We are wanting X, Y, Z for our family. And, you know, maybe we were a bit brash. Like if they said something like they're never going to. But if they said something like that, I'd be like, yeah, whatever. Cool. You made a mistake. But they were just so forceful with it. And like, I never want to be near the firm again. And, you know, the firm. And then it's like, oh, wait, I'm coming back. But like, I want you to pay for my security. It's like, you left, honey.
- Speaker #1
You left.
- Speaker #0
Why do you need to get your security paid for if you left?
- Speaker #1
But it would be such a bad, I can see why Charles has to hold firm. And with that statement he made being like, they are just going to be UK residents. They're not going to be paid for it because.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, it's like you left.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, you can't have your cake and eat it too. And then they did all these like tours down to like Australia and stuff.
- Speaker #0
They are cosplaying. They're doing cosplaying events here. I don't even know what they're for.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, it's unusual. It is really unusual. And like they haven't, apparently they haven't met with Charles yet. Which I think is very revealing. And like, I don't think he knew much about them coming back either. They're very reactive.
- Speaker #0
It all happened very quickly, did it?
- Speaker #1
It doesn't seem, nothing seems that well thought out. I thought originally that it was like Charles is sicker than we think. That's how abrupt it was.
- Speaker #0
Oh.
- Speaker #1
But I don't know. It seems he's on reduced medication now. So that kind of implies that he's better.
- Speaker #0
But you laughed knowing that he was sick, no?
- Speaker #1
Exactly.
- Speaker #0
And now he's doing an interview with GQ.
- Speaker #1
I know. but you know why he's doing it? It's because he's doing a masterclass. You know that like...
- Speaker #0
You told me that. I almost fell off my chair. What on earth?
- Speaker #1
So like you can go on. RuPaul can tell you how to be authentic. We got it from our parents for Christmas one year. Steven Spielberg teaches you how to direct films.
- Speaker #0
What would you get them?
- Speaker #1
No, you just find the membership and then you can just watch whatever you want. Oh. And then... So there's loads... They have like really famous people and like the Kardashians tell you how to be famous and all this stuff. But he's doing one on grief and he talks to like this grief.
- Speaker #0
professor or something some official person and it's like he's constantly monetizing his story now I get why he has to do that because they need money and stuff but surely he has like a big trust anyway we could talk about the royals and their money for an hour or two but it's just the constant monetization of his story is just a little people's actions speak far louder louder than their words and they just clearly want a load of cash it's so weird though like this they got home and she you
- Speaker #1
who's always like, I hate this place and I hate the royal family. And then she put up a picture of the kids frolicking amongst grass and then had the Union Jack flag and a heart emoji.
- Speaker #0
Do you think we're thick?
- Speaker #1
But you...
- Speaker #0
Like, do you honestly think we've forgotten all that?
- Speaker #1
It's absurd. Yeah. It's absolutely absurd.
- Speaker #0
It's kind of gaslighting. But they are filming something, I think, because Diana's 30-year anniversary is next year. And they did go to where she's buried in, is it Althorp? Althrop estate so she's buried there and there was cameras with them there so there definitely could be another I'm assuming Netflix thing because they have that deal something coming there so there definitely is something in the water I also thought they said that she was going to be in The Gentleman season two again another Netflix thing so everything is very Netflix either it was her team trying to tell the UK movie industry or TV industry hey I'm back and I'm open work. And it was just she never got the part. Or it's PR for the gentleman going, oh, this is a good way to raise our profile for season two. Just make up a lie that Meghan Markle's going to be in it.
- Speaker #1
I think it was a lie.
- Speaker #0
Yeah.
- Speaker #1
On whose part, I don't know. But yeah, I think it was a lie.
- Speaker #0
It was just a promo stunt for the gentleman.
- Speaker #1
One of the cast members was like, that was never in the works.
- Speaker #0
Yeah. We're going to see a lot in this lead up to the 30 year anniversary of Diana. There's going to be just a lot. And maybe it's like 30 years. Maybe Harry is just like the homebody thing of like. You know, it's 30 years since my mum died, like maybe I want to move home and things like that. I don't know.
- Speaker #1
It's exhausting.
- Speaker #0
Yeah. Did you read any of the clips around Diana's brother's book, The Earl of Spencer?
- Speaker #1
I don't know. I don't think so.
- Speaker #0
Oh, but yeah, there was pretty scandalous all the stuff he said and like whether or not it's true, I don't know, but I don't think you can write a book and it not be true. But he said that Charles said some pretty awful stuff about Diana. So like that he was a giddy elated, like a lottery winner when she died. And said to, they're both called Charles, so it's very confusing. But King Charles said to the Charles Spencer, we'll forget her soon enough. Don't worry. Which is so barbaric.
- Speaker #1
Oh my God.
- Speaker #0
Yeah. And like said all this stuff that Charles said that she looked chubby before their wedding. And like she hadn't eaten in the store. And there was something about him, Mohamed Al-Fayed. and said that he had groped Diana. Yeah, so there's a lot in that book. It's not as big as Harry's spare book, but it's like one of the best royal books, most bought royal books. That makes sense, doesn't it? Best selling, there we go. Best selling royal books.
- Speaker #1
Righto, good luck to them. Now, I'm going to give you something that's going to inject a huge, huge sense of adrenaline and boost into your ego. It is the long-awaited topic for you to discuss that I would say kick up your feet and smile. Ed Sheeran.
- Speaker #0
Oh, I've never missed Hogg more than that week. And the messages I got, thank you everyone. Thank you. On behalf of me, myself and I, I would just like to say I am so smug that everyone has finally seen the man who I've seen all along. Go back to endless episodes of Hogg, you'll see how much I hate him and how much I give out about him. He is an appropriator at large and now it's finally going to bite him on the arse. And I'm just so happy that the world has seen what a weak and money-obsessed man he is. One thing that really annoyed me was like the viral apology that he gave, Ed Sheeran gave.
- Speaker #1
Is this the one on his Instagram?
- Speaker #0
The one from the... the first concert he did where everyone disowned him oh he where he's reading off a teleprompter yeah that's the one that went viral the other clips obviously because my algorithm was flooded with these videos the other clips he like he kind of finally relaxed into it never it's like cheering him on like obviously your your ego is going to be enormous with 50,000 people hanging on your every word but he was like oh like this has been like the worst week of my life i've lost friends and family over this it's like the worst week of your life that is not relatable at all quote. The war is still going on. It's very out of touch. And then in the same clip, he was like, oh, I was looking at the ticket sales and people are still coming to buy the show. And like, I look around here tonight, it's not, it's a full house and blah, blah. It's like, why are you still talking about your ticket sales? Again, refusing to see the bigger picture and again, refusing to use your platform. for him to talk about something good and I understand like Ed Sheeran shouldn't be he doesn't have to make political statements he shouldn't he's just a singer can he really change the dial but it's just like as Miss Rachel said in 20 years from now which side of this genocide do you want to be on and he performed at that billionaire what's his name Robert Flask Fask he performed at his wedding he's in that back pocket what what I think Ed Sheeran should have done was you know reschedule the tour and or find another venue you know and i know people have bought tickets and stuff but like adele cancelled her tour because it wasn't ready and people have booked flights the vegas shows she cancelled them had a big apology done an easy out for him the main thing was free speech at the end of the day he could have just gone this is about free speech yeah it was censorship like and someone is controlling what people are saying and america's all about free speech
- Speaker #1
They're not though.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, it just shows you they're not.
- Speaker #1
Like that showed you where the state of the country is.
- Speaker #0
Exactly. And just to my original point, he is an appropriator at large, okay? He takes things that he thinks are cool and he recreates them and whitewashes them. We had it with the Marvin Gaye family suing him. Now he won and in fairness, his statement is he can't trademark the color blue. But he also has other songs that sound like TSE No Scrubs. The way he raps and then he's just kind of like... whitewashed it and put it out there. So I think his granny's Irish. He loves Irish because Irish people are like so hot right now. There's Paul Meskell, Guinness, Fontaine's DC, you know, he's trying to hitch his wagon to being Irish. And he's there like at the Fla, at Park McQueave, like in Gaa jerseys. Okay, fair enough. But like, if you're going to claim you're Irish, you need to understand that Irish people are political. We have you a serious tie with Gaza and what's going on. Free Palestine is something that Irish people have been saying for like since I can remember. So if you're going to claim to be Irish you need to understand like all the different elements and aspects and nuances of what it means to actually be Irish and to be Irish means you need to have opinions on this. It really ties in with what's gone on in the north and blind boy tell me this, the black and tans so that were in Ireland in like the 1920s around our war of independence. Where do you think those soldiers went after they got kicked out of Ireland? They went to Palestine. So there is a connection. The same people who brutalised us Irish people went to Palestine. So we have this, an Irish connection, something that I'd share and just couldn't be bothered to understand or appreciate. So like, then you're the gun round claiming that you're Irish and in fairness, giving like an amazing stage to all these Irish artists. But then when like, you knew what you were doing when you were signed up McLemore. So it seemed like a storm waiting to happen. and like you know Macklemore has a song that is like about the ceasefires and about the war in Gaza. So it's like you knew that this might happen. Like if you don't want to stay political, stay like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Coldplay, stay apolitical, then don't have someone like Macklemore on it. Like it was just it was actually quite a perfect storm.
- Speaker #1
It was a perfect storm.
- Speaker #0
And the irony that a storm washed out the rest of his gigs.
- Speaker #1
Now, just while we're on to the topic, can we talk about your similarity to his cousin?
- Speaker #0
Jethro
- Speaker #1
Sheeran so I need to meet this man when all of this was happening I was sending Clara these clips of your man Jethro and he's like talking to Piers Brosnan or Piers Morgan Morgan I'd love to do that Jethro is going all fun one in his Darmonte denim jacket and I say Clara this is you like you weren't on maternity leave it's like they're never in the same room those two Like, did you dress the same? Absolutely.
- Speaker #0
I love a Diamante denim jacket.
- Speaker #1
His sentiment towards Ed Sheeran is yours.
- Speaker #0
Yeah. Like, honestly, he was speaking my truth. I love when he live raps as well. That's just shown his real talent.
- Speaker #1
He's not bad.
- Speaker #0
He's not bad. But he's been on, it's so funny, no mainstream media will take him. Like, it's only like the outskirts.
- Speaker #1
He's brilliant.
- Speaker #0
Yeah.
- Speaker #1
That was really both funny and really powerful what you did there.
- Speaker #0
Thank you. and that i've been ranting about that to anyone who will who is near me i'd say he's like whoa whoa mama but i think he could have made he could have made a real statement for change like if he didn't care so much about the money because he just doesn't want to pay for cancelling a tour okay but you would have really gained so much respect and also paying you know the whole thing of like i'm donating two million towards the cause and people were like well what's the cause yeah
- Speaker #1
And you're like, that could be anything.
- Speaker #0
I don't understand the mental gymnastics it takes to understand that free palestine just doesn't mean peace. Yeah, it's just, it's an unusual time. And I just wonder in 20 years, like, what? What will be said about it? You know, it's just like, I get that it shouldn't be up to Ed Sheeran, but there was a chance to really send a message. And at the moment, the message he sent was, I care more about not losing out on the insurance of cancelling a gig. I don't want to pay for cancelling a gig. and not ruffling feathers of powerful people yeah and it just shows that he was completely manipulated and bullied by that billionaire what's his name Robert Kraft
- Speaker #1
Kraft not Flask lol oh is that how you I thought his name was Robert Flask oh okay yeah Kraft tomato tomato yeah bologna bologna Now, to finish up, we need to discuss the traitors. This will be coming out on Tuesday. We're recording on Friday. So there's an episode tonight. General thoughts. Yeah. Love Miranda. I just love that woman. Maya Jama is a genius. James Acaster needs a nap.
- Speaker #0
He's so obviously a traitor because he looks so wrecked.
- Speaker #1
But he needs like a vitamin D shot or something. The poor fella.
- Speaker #0
Did you hear the rumor that they had to shut down filming because he was so stressed out about being a traitor? And like all the cast members had to be like, stop filming. He's not OK. All for putting mental health first. I'm so glad they looked after him. But he was not a good pick for Traitor. Like he just he I think he could get to the final, but then he would like have to like murder himself in the show because he just feels too guilty. Like like I hate the fact that Maya Jama had to be like, guys, this should be fun. Like we have to kill people. It's a bit of a slow start.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, because like Richard would love it.
- Speaker #0
Oh, imagine him cackling in the turret.
- Speaker #1
I'm so annoyed he left.
- Speaker #0
I know. And like Hannah, it was just too, I just feel like it was a real clunky start for the traders and that like ripple effect of not picking Amal and picking James Acaster, I think, has really set the season off. I'm like, it's just kind of a, don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it, but it's like, you can't force people to be traders a little bit. Like it feels like James Acaster is literally at gunpoint.
- Speaker #1
he's not i'm just like maya's brilliant i love the recruitment of kenny oh killer kenny yeah can't wait for that he is brilliant and just putting it out into the ether i think him and i would have a really really good vibe you guys would vibe yeah absolutely and i'm just putting that out there kenny
- Speaker #0
i'm available because he is single yeah who else is kind of good they got such good celebrities it is great oh it's brilliant michael sheen's brilliant class I love his leopard print I love his joanne like oh my god she's everything i want her to be and more like she's so funny and it's just amazing to think that like you kind of feel like from her instagram and podcast and stuff you do feel like her she's so relatable that like you feel like you're so like happy for all her success and you see how hard she's worked and now like she has maya jama on traders going i don't want murdered Joanne like I love her too much like that's crazy and like Like they're all like household names, all like loving her and knowing who she is. Like it's amazing.
- Speaker #1
And she's like elevated above them, I think.
- Speaker #0
Yeah.
- Speaker #1
She's a real standout.
- Speaker #0
She really defended, was it last week? She really defended herself and they were like, you're just so chaotic. And then she was like, but I'm not going to vote for Hannah because it's just a pile on. And like, I just, I knew she was going, you know. She shows like, even though it is quite chaotic, but it shows like how good a person she is.
- Speaker #1
Yeah. I like the way she's like, why would I do that?
- Speaker #0
Yeah. I think the person who I'm enjoying, well, Joanne's number one, but my number two is Ross Kemp. Like, he is, that man doesn't blink, as she pointed out. And, like, he's just taking it so seriously.
- Speaker #1
He made me stressed.
- Speaker #0
But I just want, it's something like, whether you love him or hate him, or like, whatever.
- Speaker #1
Like, this fella goes in gangs in war-torn countries, and he's, like, freaking out because someone put a sailor hat on him.
- Speaker #0
A tiny little person.
- Speaker #1
He was like...
- Speaker #0
well I think that I think that was it he lost his mind I'm dead he literally have like held a machine gun yeah like Leanne like touches him on the elbow oh my god her dancing was Miranda yeah that was great so good it was so good I do think the traders have such good chance of winning because no one will suspect especially Kenny and Maya yeah James I'm not so sure like I feel like James will kill himself I think he'll he won't be able to take the moralistic pressure Thank you.
- Speaker #1
I kind of hope the two others are just like, here, James, we have to get rid of you.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, sacrificial lamb.
- Speaker #1
Well, kind of. He's clearly not having crack.
- Speaker #0
He's so upset, the poor thing.
- Speaker #1
Sorry, are you saying the four, the other traitors were like, we need a filming break?
- Speaker #0
Apparently, no, the other cast members were like, he's not okay. You need to stop filming.
- Speaker #1
Is that not kind of like, he's definitely a traitor then?
- Speaker #0
Like, why would you have panicked? Oh, I can't figure out who the traitors are. Like, that's, it's obvious. Like, it's so obvious. And he looks exhausted.
- Speaker #1
That is something I would know. Sorry, also James Blunt.
- Speaker #0
Oh my god, sorry. Him and Tom Cruise have the same facelift, Doctor. They look the exact same. He looks like a...
- Speaker #1
The wardrobe as well.
- Speaker #0
I know. He's doing a bit of the Jonathan Ross performance dressing. His butter yellow suit.
- Speaker #1
Yeah, you know, when he convinced everyone to vote for I can't remember who it was, and then they turned out to be a faithful...
- Speaker #0
Oh, Julie?
- Speaker #1
Maybe. And then he was like, oh, sorry, that was my fault. And then Miranda goes, well, yeah.
- Speaker #0
and stormed out you know miranda has lyme's disease and chronic fatigue yes because i to be honest she was at the beginning i was like okay we i don't go around i love that show miranda but i just find it thought she was too much shtick at the beginning but then after that last episode last week where she was talking about her yeah like not feeling well and everything and obviously the the
- Speaker #1
little mix dancing i was like oh wow she's actually gas yeah and she was like oh and I was like not very well I felt like
- Speaker #0
laughter and friendship and stuff they're like yeah i thought that was very sweet she couldn't vote for who was for joe lysett i can't do it and she was right she was like i can't and you know when he goes i'm a faithful she goes oh my love is true good one good i love is true uh yeah she's got i'm sad rob beckett went because i thought him and ramesh and jerry hall that was like a nice little sub
- Speaker #1
chat jerry's on another plan what are you talking about so he's more red than a cat some hot butter on a tin roof I can see why she's had the relationship she's had.
- Speaker #0
Yeah, yeah. I just thought...
- Speaker #1
I could really see it.
- Speaker #0
I never knew she was from Texas. I was expecting like Joanna Lumney. I was not expecting that accent.
- Speaker #1
Oh, my Lord. Oh,
- Speaker #0
Lord above on a hot, sweaty Savannah evening.
- Speaker #1
I think it's brilliant so far. I'm excited to see the rest.
- Speaker #0
Yeah.
