Speaker #0Hi, welcome to The Pulse. I hope you're doing well. My name is Julie, I'm your host, and today in Podmas episodes I would like to talk to you about 2026 but in a different context. I know the last few episodes have been about setting up your goals, setting up your intention, setting up a word or an image that will help you through that process, but now I would like to talk to you about the fact that we don't have to wait. until January 1st to start those goals, right? I think this idea that automatically goals have to be set up at the end of the year, that you have to do whatever mood board or documents until December 31st and then start your goals on January 1st, it's not truly something that you have to follow. I think this has been a heavy trend. And I have to say, I mean, I'm also setting up and doing that very often. but I also like to start them a bit earlier because we don't have to wait. If your goals are clear, if your goals of the prior years are already finished, why not starting today? And if it's a follow up on what you've already done in 2025, then, of course, always continue. But also maybe there is a way for you to start on some of those 2026 topics. And for me, actually, I have to say that I even started earlier. So one of my objectives in 2026 is to get a certain diploma. I won't talk too much into details, but for that, I needed to ensure that the application is done in 2025. I needed to ensure that I had all the paperwork, etc. And so I did this already starting September. And I've been working quite heavily in the background to get it sorted and to ensure that I can start really as soon as possible, because the goal is to get the degree in 2026. And therefore, for that, the earlier I can start and the more I can prepare. ahead as long as it's not taking over my previous goals then let's start and so that's in a way a bit of the intention right you can at least have in mind that you don't have to start all of your goals tomorrow or today but maybe you can already look at one professional one personal and then one which would be either quick win or wild card And who knows, maybe you can even get that quick win done before December 31st, 2025, right? Who knows? So sometimes having those goals in mind and starting them right away and putting the intention right away can help you already set the feeling that on January 1st, first of all, it's not a burden. And second of all, you might not be exhausted by mid-January because you would already have the slump of having December. so you already have done with because what we I know a lot and I'll talk in another episode about my favorite book of the year. It's related to habits. In general, we know a habit takes quite some weeks to get there. And very often people that sign up for the gym beginning of January, then we hear a lot of people don't go back after two weeks or three weeks. And that is one of the key things that we, I think every year, there are jokes about this and there are sentences. around, yeah, like you start a hobby or you start something at the beginning of the year, and then after two, three weeks, you're done with it. And I hope this comes across in a nice way, because I've also done that. I'm not in any better situation. But I feel like if I start now, instead of starting on January 1st, then what's going to happen is that I'm going to kick off the goal now. And even if it's something that requires continuous habit, then I'm going to started and maybe it's not going to be perfect, right? Because. We have to deal with a lot during this time of year, but by starting a little bit and by already putting some trends toward it, then most likely by the time January 1st comes, I have like a second reminder, a second boost, because again, the year is officially starting. So already what I've done before gives me that opportunity to feel like ahead, but then it's already giving me a second breeze, a second motivation boost. In a period that usually would be most likely the valley where you kind of tend to stop that goal. But instead, because I would look at my goals again at that moment in time, then I could give another kick and allow me to keep going with some of those goals. Don't overwhelm yourself too much, though. As I mentioned in a previous episode, I think it's always also a difficult time of year. There is a lot happening. So I would really advise to start. yeah one personal one professional and then one quick wins. And I would love to hear what are your, the goals that you are kicking off this year. I can tell you, I can tell you mine. One of my goal that I have for this year is definitely to improve my German. So this is in a way my personal goal and I am starting right now already with Every two to three days, I do a bit of German. So my goal is to start listening to podcasts in German, etc. But for that, I want to start smaller. So I try to make it a habit on a regular basis that I listen or speak German with someone. So not for like an hour. I see my colleagues coming. I'm not ready yet to do a full meeting in German, even though I'm most likely they will say I'm capable. I think I would definitely want to have those 10-15 minutes conversation about regular topics and then also listening to podcasts and then also like then watching movies. But I don't want to start with already setting up the intention that I have to speak German one hour per day because this is not achievable. So I start already in December with 10-15 minutes and then I will increase along the way. So I'm recording this a bit ahead. So I think people will start. I'll start discussing with some people on January, on January. December hey this is what I said we start in December already so December 1st before this episode does air but I'm recording ahead as mentioned in the previous one so yeah that's one of my my goal I think another for me another quick win that I want to have is more personal is I really want to have my cell assorted and it's been daunting there is a few pieces that shouldn't be there. So my goal is to sell those items and ensure or like... Get them out of my apartment, those extra items that are in there, and to ensure that then I can start fresh and it's already feeling like a breather and it's a win. And if I can get this done before December 31st, I would be very happy. If this doesn't happen, it's also okay to say this is going to be maybe quarter one. But if I can put this quick win out there, it's really going to help me feel good overall with my intention. So this is some ideas, again, sharing openly. I hope this helps you also in general to feel like let's get this year ahead. But let's not wait as well for that specific setup deadline of January 1st. Because if we're mentally ready for the 2026 goals and also physically we are in the right mood, then let's do those. So I almost forgot to close this episode. I hope you liked it again.
