Simon Turner broke his back at BHP's Mount Arthur coal mine in the Hunter Valley in 2016. Ten years on, BHP has never filed a defence. The Newcastle Hunter Jazz Club has cancelled its 37th annual jazz festival after new ATO superannuation guidance left it unable to guarantee compliance for 334 musicians across 52 bands in a matter of days. Club president Murray explains the compliance window, the legal risk of bands performing without super details on file, and why a volunteer-run club couldn't meet it.
